Colchester's Jumbo Water Tower was completed in 1833 using 1.25 million bricks, 142 tons of iron and 369 tons of stone. The tower can hold 230,000 gallons of Water.
The Mercury Theatre was opened in May 1972 after a successful fundraising campaign and a large grant from the Borough Council.
The grade II listed Jumbo is soon to be converted into a five bedroom home with a public viewing gallery at the top. The Mercury continues with regular productions and a range of visiting work.
