FaithYou are in: Tees > Faith > Football Crazy ![]() The Boro fans show where they're headed Football CrazyBy Mark Turnbull BBC Radio Cleveland's Sunday Breakfast Show presenter, Mark Turnbull asks 'Is there a connection between faith and football?' I plead guilty to getting a bit excited over the football this week. The Boro's brilliant bounce-back against Steaua Bucharest on Thursday sent waves of pleasure right across the world - well, anywhere where there were Boro fans. On Saturday I was at the Riverside at the last home game of the season; the atmosphere was predicted to be flat "after the Lord Mayor's Show" but, I was captivated by the crowd of almost thirty thousand shouting, cheering, and singing for their team. The statistic is widely quoted that more people will go to church each week, or practise their faith in Britain, than will go to football matches. That may well be so, but, will they show the same display of passion and purpose as those in the crowd, or, on the pitch. I somehow doubt it - maybe we should be given a red card?
