Rochdale kept their National League title hopes alive after a dramatic goal from Emmanuel Dieseruvwe deep into added time snatched a win at relegated Braintree, who had scored a late equaliser.
With Dale two points behind leaders York and holding an inferior goal difference, there was little margin for error ahead of an all-or-nothing showdown with their rivals on the last weekend of the campaign.
Aidan Barlow broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a low shot into the bottom corner after the ball dropped to him on the edge of the penalty area.
That looked set to be enough for a vital three points, only for Braintree to score an equaliser at the start of added time when substitute John Akinde bundled the ball in.
Dale, though, produced more late drama when Dieseruvwe latched on to a long pass forward to fire home the winner.
