We're taking lunch, at basically the standard time with the final wicket falling just before 1pm.

A handy last-wicket partnership for England, but they had a terrible start to their morning, losing three wickets for three runs as Matt Henry ran riot.

The New Zealand seamer finished with figures of 5-80, with Will O'Rourke taking a couple of wickets and Nathan Smith and Kyle Jamieson one apiece.

Here's Timothy Abraham to take you through the afternoon session.

England are delighted with the way they've been able to construct those extra runs.

That ultimately is a job well done by New Zealand.

Baker c Latham b Jamieson 4 (Eng 291 all out)

Kyle Jamieson finds the ball that breaks the partnership and ends the innings.

Sonny Baker faces his first five balls without scoring then edges the sixth to Tom Latham at second slip.

England concedes a first innings lead of exactly 100, which could have been a fair bit worse had it not been for that 53-run 10th wicket partnership.

Anyone who played with or against Matt Fisher in his Sheriff Hutton Bridge days knows that he is very handy with the bat. I played a fair bit of representative cricket with him and he was as much a batter as a bowler back then!

Will, Swansea (but Malton, North Yorks originally)

I was planning on going to the shops in between the innings to pick up some lunch, looks like I'll be going hungry for a bit longer at this rate!

    James, Manchester

Can we take a moment to appreciate the knock that Matt Fisher is having here. He's played plenty of shots that any top order batter would be proud of.

This is now England's third-highest 10th-wicket partnership in the Bazball era. The highest is Root and Archer's 70 at Brisbane in the winter just gone.

Very fine innings from a number nine, an unexpected source you might say but nevertheless he's played right from the time he came to the crease.

Wickets fell and then he started to be more aggressive. Now, he's almost playing properly.

  9. Eng 291-9published at 83 overs

Another dot ball ends Matt Henry's over.

Matthew Fisher's four also brought up the 50 partnership off 95 balls.

It's the second largest of England's innings, behind Emilio Gay and Joe Root's third-wicket pairing of 74.

Sonny Baker has four of the partnership's runs, off 30 deliveries.

    There's Matthew Fisher's first Test half-century!

He faces four dot balls from Matt Henry then turns the New Zealand seamer square for his sixth four of the innings.

He raises his bat and looks skyward - just his third first-class 50, and it comes off 76 balls.

Sonny Baker survives the Kyle Jamieson over - indeed, he doesn't look too troubled as he faces all six deliveries.

It's a maiden, Jamieson's fifth of the innings.

Matthew Fisher has two first-class half-centuries to his name with a top score of 88 against Leicestershire while playing for Yorkshire in 2024.

He's never made a professional hundred. He averages 16.73 in first-class cricket.

It's the manner in which the runs have been achieved that will be frustrating. Matt Henry is not happy at all with the way the shots and the runs are coming.

New Zealand, even though they have this lead, will be frustrated at lunch.

    New ball, then.

Matthew Fisher takes two to third off Matt Henry's second delivery, and is beaten comprehensively by his outswinging fourth while trying to clip into the leg side.

The England number nine then hacks a final ball four over third again, moving to 46.

That does mean Sonny Baker will face the returning Kyle Jamieson.

Ben Stokes' first spell for Durham today is over. Six overs, two maidens, no wickets and 16 runs.

He had a big lbw shout off the last ball of the his sixth over turned down and slapped the floor in frustration after the umpire shook his head.

The umpire, incidentally, is former spinner James Tredwell, who played 20 times for England with Stokes.

Unsurprisingly, New Zealand take the new ball straight away.

Matt Henry is returning to take it, he'll be looking to wrap up this partnership of 43.

Nicely done by Matthew Fisher, swivelling on a short ball from Nathan Smith that didn't get up and sending it for four behind square.

Three balls later and he lashes Smith through the covers for another boundary, then takes a single to retain the strike.

That takes him to 40 from 65 deliveries.

  20. Eng 272-9published at 79 overs

Rachin Ravindra whirls through an over of left-arm spin, with Matthew Fisher taking his single from the fourth ball.

There's a hint of a chance there, edging past his stumps and Tom Blundell.

The new ball is due after the next over from Nathan Smith.
