  1. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:08 BST

    Glam 71-4 v Surrey

A strong morning for Surrey and Gus Atkinson.

The England seamer has taken two wickets. Sean Abbott has also struck twice to put Glamorgan in trouble after the hosts won the toss.

  2. wicket

WICKET and lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 BST

    Vaughan c Hain b Webster 5 (Somerset 94-5 v Warks)

Warwickshire have a fifth wicket and that's lunch.

A poor end to a scratchy session for the hosts as Archie Vaughan prods at a Beau Webster ball he could have left outside off-stump, edges and Sam Hain takes a comfortable catch at first slip.

The Bears will be cock-a-hoop as they beat a retreat to the pavilion for lunch.

A disastrous spell of three wickets in five balls left Somerset reeling on 21-3 after opting to bat first in what seemed to be cracking batting conditions.

Thomas Rew (35) and Lewis Goldsworthy (33*) steadied the ship but their 65-run partnership was broken when Webster trapped Rew.

  3. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:05 BST

    Worcestershire v Gloucestershire 78-2

Cameron Bancroft has batted through the morning to reach 34 at lunch with Miles Hammond 26 not out to lead a recovery from 35-2.

But Worcestershire have not let them get away and the home bowlers will be reasonably satisfied with their two hours of graft.

  4. Lunch at Chesterfieldpublished at 13:05 BST

    Derbyshire v Lancashire 106-6

No prizes for which team will enjoy their lunch more at Chesterfield.

Derbyshire inserted Lancashire at half 10 and have whittled out over half of the Red Rose batters with two each for Ben Aitchison and Mohammad Abbas.

Harry Singh reaches lunch not out on 26, the highest score so far, but that is a mountain of work for him and George Balderson, who has survived to make 19.

  5. wicket

WICKET AND LUNCHpublished at 13:04 BST

Lehmann lbw Haines 10 (Sussex v Hants 83-3)

A huge wicket in the final over of the session.

A very similar delivery from Tom Haines to the one that got Ali Orr. Full length, nips away, beats the outside edge and nails Jake Lehmann on the back pad bang in front of off stump.

Lehmann was the fourth-highest run scorer in Division One.

Nick Gubbins takes lunch 47 not out.

  6. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 BST

    Kent 69-0 v Middlesex

Ben Dawkins and Ben Compton do make it through unscathed to the lunch break.

Dawkins is outscoring his partner, 39-23, and while the scoring rate may not be the best, but they are doing what is required of opening batters in setting up the innings.

Plenty of food for thought for Middlesex over the next half an hour or so.

  7. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:02 BST

    Durham v Northants 91-0

While his Test side have been struggling against New Zealand at The Oval, the England skipper Ben Stokes has had an eventful morning for Durham.

He had a catch dropped off the fourth ball of his first over, hit Luke Procter on the head with a bouncer and was pulled for six by Ricardo Vasconcelos.

Northants have enjoyed their day so far after being asked to bat with Vasconcelos (51*) and Procter (27*) playing very nicely.

The Division Two leaders need a couple of early wickets after lunch.

  8. wicket

WICKET and lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 13:01 BST

    Bairstow b Evison 17 (Leics v Yorks 86-5)

    A massive wicket brings lunch.

Jonny Bairstow cuts Joey Evison nicely for four to go to 17 but is cleaned up next ball as the bowler gets one to move away slightly and knock back the off-stump.

It caps a brilliant morning for the hosts.

Yorkshire opted to take first bat but have found the going tough on a lively ‘two-tone’ wicket.

Ben Green was superb (2-23), with great support from Josh Davey and Alex Green.

Adam Lyth, Will Luxton, Sam Whiteman, Matt Revis and now Bairstow are all back in the hutch, with only James Wharton (38*) making an impression.

  9. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:00 BST

    Essex 87-3 v Notts

A decent repair job done by the Essex skipper Tom Westley (44) and Charlie Allison (13*) until the Essex skipper edged to slip just before the interval.

That was after Notts removed Dean Elgar and Paul Walter and had the home side rocking at 31-2 after they had won the toss and elected to bat first.

The defending champions have bowled with good discipline and that dismissal of Westley is a huge bonus.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:58 BST

    Westley c McCann b Patterson-White 44 (Essex 87-3 v Notts)

A big blow on the stroke of lunch.

Liam Patterson-White floats one up and Tom Westley edges to Freddie McCann at slip.

Westley had been looking so good.

  11. 100 runs

100 up for Lancashirepublished at 12:54 BST

    Derbyshire v Lancashire 100-6

Well Lancashire are going to avoid the ignominy of being bowled out for double figures in this innings.

Brought up in a manner befitting some of the batting as George Balderson under-edges one from Ben Aitchison to fine leg for four.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:53 BST

    Orr b Haines 3 (Sussex v Hants 65-2)

    Sussex strike again!

But from the unlikely source of Tom Haines.

Round the wicket to the left-handed Ali Orr, he gets a full ball angled in to straighten enough and beat the outside edge to take off-stump.

Orr was playing slightly across it and becomes Haines’ fifth wicket of the season with his medium pace.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12:48 BST

Rew lbw Webster 35 (Somerset 86-4 v Warks)

A fourth wicket before lunch for the Bears.

And it's a big one as Thomas Rew is cut off in his prime.

He decides to shoulder arms to Beau Webster and the ball nips back and clips his back pad in front of off-stump. A fluent knock of 35 is done.

    Archie Vaughan joins Lewis Goldworthy.

  14. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 12:48 BST

    Kent 56-0 v Middlesex

Zafar Gohar is introduced into the Middlesex attack and when he drops short second ball, Ben Dawkins rocks on to the back foot and smashes through leg.

The boundary brings up the half-century partnership and for good measure, Dawkins then smashes the last ball of the over for another four.

Dawkins moves to 31 as Kent close in on going through the morning session unscathed.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Ricardo Vasconcelospublished at 12:48 BST

    Durham v Northants 86-0

He was dropped when on 13 but Ricardo Vasconcelos goes to his half-century.

A nice way to mark the stand-in Northants wicketkeeper also getting married this week.

Eight fours and one six in this effort from Vasconcelos so far.

  16. Postpublished at 12:48 BST

    Leics v Yorks 76-4

James Wharton is beginning to motor.

First he runs Alex Green aliong the grass through the slips for four.

His next boundary off Joey Evison is a less deliberate stroke as a genuine outside edge runs down to the rope at third man. He's up to 35.

Can Foxes get another before lunch?

Howard, thanks for getting in touch. If you're on holiday in Crete, firstly thanks for joining us, but secondly, find something cold and refreshing and try to forget about Lancashire's troubles!

    Somerset 85-3 v Warks

Thomas Rew stays aggressive against Manav Suthar and flashes hard.

A thick outside edge goes through the vacant second slip to move Rew into his 30s. Fortune favours the brave they say.

  19. Postpublished at 12:43 BST

    Durham v Northants 76-0

Ben Stokes first spell is done with figures of 6-2-16-0.

    Ben Raine replaces him.

Ben Dawkins and Ben Compton are settling in for bed and board at Canterbury as the Kent openers are enjoying a leisurely morning against Middlesex.

Dawkins has 22 off 73 balls and Compton 18 off 59 with Kent 47-0.

Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond are steadying the ship for Gloucestershire after Worcestershire had claimed two early wickets.

Their third-wicket partnership has moved to 36 with the total at 71-2 as Bancroft has 30 and his junior partner seven fewer.
