Tina Warren

Tina loves oil on canvas, but can turn her hand to mixed media or pencil and charcoal...

Tina's profile...

montage of Tina's work

"I was born in Blackpool in 1968 and studied my two passions, Art and Theatrical Studies, at Blackpool and Fylde College.

In 1992 I married and had two children and became a full time mum. As my children grew, so did my need to paint, so I started painting murals for family and friends, and it turned into a career. I have been painting murals under the name of 'Weird, Wacky & Wonderful' for about five years, but recently have decided to concentrate on my own work.

In 2005 I was commissioned to create a large piece of work for Thornton Little Theatre (it is in mixed media and hangs above the front doors into the auditorium), and more recently was commissioned to paint a horse on a 4ft by 3ft canvas in oils.

I do prefer to work in oil on canvas, but I also love mixed media or pencil and charcoal. I have worked with acrylics for a long time and am also beginning to dabble into the world of watercolours and pastels.

My tastes are pretty strange, so some of my paintings are not for the more delicate palette, though my more recent work is relatively tame. Concerns about the welfare of one of my favourite animals, the orangutan, has, more recently, led me down the path of 'wildlife' art. I am hoping to have an exhibition of my work at Blackpool Zoo later in the year."
