Daniel's profile..."I am based in Wrightington in Lancashire, close to Appley Bridge. I grew up in Leigh, Greater Manchester, my dad was the art teacher at the local school and my mum owned a shop in St Helens. As a child my mum would take me to museums like Bolton Museum and Liverpool Museum my favourite was Liverpool Museum. She also took me to craft classes with my brothers were we did painting with water colours, oils and acrylics, printing and pastel drawing, and learnt to make sculptures at Warrington and Bolton museum. When I was older I moved to London to study at the University of the Arts where I became friends with many Japanese, Korean, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese people. I like their bright, colourful, wacky dress sense and their calm peaceful nature. Since meeting these people, I have had many comments that my work has an Asian influence to it which I take as a great compliment. I have recently finished a series of works entitled ˜Citrus Shapes"™ and I am presently working on finishing the Muki Paws series as a set of 30 postcards and prints." |
