Nottingham Forest have confirmed former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as their new head coach.

I think they have managed it well throughout this tournament. His tactical changes in every single game have worked and that's a huge thing to have within a changing room.

"So many things against us as a team coming here, coming to this fortress and having to get through. In the game, the red card, the penalty and so many decisions against us the whole game, but we stuck at it.

"Everyone who fought for every inch of the ball, every inch of the grass.

"This will only give us more belief and more momentum. What a special night for England.

"We scored three goals away from home against a team that have not conceded in the tournament. We played 40-50 minutes with 10 men, so whatever you say about us as a team. The one thing we do have is complete desire, determination and pride in the shirt.

"One of my favourite nights in my career."

Declan Rice says the Mexico win was the best England result he has experienced as a national team player.

Tuchel’s decision making, Pickford punching balls. Might have been a Round of 16 - but what a game - everything about it, superb.

I thought stick for Pickford was wrong at the start of this tournament– people just trying to cause drama. Big saves from the start for him.

Most impressive thing about him – apart from kicking the ball the way he did because of the high altitude, but the way he dealt with those aerial balls towards the end.

His decision making, his execution of those decisions. It was all Mexico were going to do… and he just kept on saying ‘come on, keep them coming’ - and I’ll deal with them.

Harry losing his voice post-match, underlines how much effort he put into the game.

After the sending of Quansah – which the referee got right - it looked like the whole team was defending so well – it was so organised. I think Tuchel had a plan for losing a player.

Tuchel’s conversation throughout this tournament was “we’re going to get better”. Every test that we’ve had, we’ve got better.

Despite only coming on in the 75th minute, Dan Burn made the joint most clearances in England's 3-2 win over Mexico (6).

It's the most clearances made by a player subbed on that late into a World Cup game on record since 1966.

The 49 crosses sent in by Mexico were the most allowed by England in a World Cup match over the last 60 years.

"I watched it with my little lad, we said 'we'll watch it at 6am and not know the score'. We both woke at 2am - I think it was God's intervention. I went through and he was wide awake so I said 'let's go and watch it, son'. The rest is history, we're absolutely buzzing.

"Then I thought 'oh no, I've got it to do this assembly this morning' so I'm panicking thinking, 'what am I going to do?'

"Anyway, the theme is 'sport, teamwork and collaboration', I'm just putting on the match for the kids, we'll watch all two hours of it, let's have it! I'm absolutely buzzing mate, it's unreal.

"I said to my son 'we ain't going to do it this year, we're not good enough, have we got the players? blah blah blah' and here we are, led by a German called Tommy and we're just doing it. I'm so impressed.

"I'm buzzing. I'm ecstatic, I'm tingling with that excited feeling of thinking it really is coming home (until we get knocked out on Saturday!)"

England were well aware of what was awaiting them at this iconic sporting venue in a game labelled the biggest in Mexico's football history.

Tuchel's side were thrust into one of the most testing atmospheres in any arena, at altitude of more than 7,000ft, and produce a display of maturity, quality and grit that will give them huge confidence and belief.

England's big performers delivered, especially Bellingham, who produced one of the great individual performances, not only with his two goals but an outstanding last-ditch tackle to deny Mexico defender Cesar Montes when he looked certain to make it 2-2 on the stroke of half-time.

Tuchel also deserves great credit for a gameplan in which England sat deep to take the heat out of Mexico's fiery approach – although the hosts had them rocking as they were roared on by their fervent supporters.

As Mexico pressed in those agonising 11 added minutes, bodies were thrown on the line to see out a memorable triumph.

We spoke about this being a once in a lifetime opportunity and atmosphere but it was also going to test us and it did in the worst way possible. We came through. That can't say any more about us.

"It was difficult. The alitude the first 20 minutes was difficult. We're good players, we play the top level, that's what we're paid to do. We knew it would be tough but big players, big moments.

"When we got a man sent off, I knew I'd have to be trustworthy and run more than ever. I'm a player where I want to be good at everything, whatever kind of game I'm in I can change the game. I try to do my best for the team and hopefully I've done that.

"We focus on the process, how we play, how we train. The outcome we can never control, but we can control how we react, how we train, and that's doing us well so far."
