New Hartlepool United head coach Pete Wild says he cannot "wave a magic wand" and instantly cure the team's problems.

Wild was appointed as Lee Clark's replacement last week and watched his new side lose 1-0 at home to Tamworth on Saturday.

It was their ninth defeat in 12 National League games, leaving Pools 22nd in the table, three points from safety, their tally of eight goals scored is the second-lowest in the division.

"We're not going to click our fingers or wave a magic wand and something is going to change," Wild told BBC Radio Tees.

"But in the next six to eight weeks, it will change and we will get it right."

Pools have now lost six on the spin and early-season optimism following a busy summer of new arrivals and back-to-back wins to start with in August has completely evaporated.

Wild, whose last job saw him keep Tranmere Rovers in League Two at the end of last season, can see that confidence is low, but is backing himself to steer the County Durham club to safer ground.

"Every club I've ever had, I've walked into the situations and I've come out the other side," he said.

"I've no doubt in my ability we'll come out of this, but experience tells me that if I tell you next week it's going to be completely different, that's a whole load of rubbish.

"It's going to take time to get better and that's what I'm going to try to do."
