Many people enjoy gardening as a hobby, but what about those people who work as gardeners - do they get the same enjoyment from it?
Here are two interviews with men who work as gardeners, Dónall Ó Cnaimhsí who worked in Glenveagh National Park in Donegal and Éamonn Ó Maoláin who worked in the Phoenix Park in Dublin.
When Róisín Ní Chéileachair interviewed Dónall Ó Cnáimhsí from Gweedore he had just spent six months working, with four others, as a gardener in the Glenveagh National Park in Co. Donegal. In this interview he describes his job, his experiences to date and his thoughts on what we should be doing for the enivronment.
Meet the quiet unassuming Gaeltacht gardener who has tended the Presidential Gardens in the Phoenix Park in Dublin (Baile Átha Cliath) over the course of 6 presidents, a career which spanned over forty years and which has seen many changes come upon Dublin. Éamonn Ó Maoláin has also witnessed many globally important events, including the visit of JFK to Ireland in 1963, which left an enduring impression on him.
