There were nerves a plenty in the Fame Academy studios for the second show of the contest.

The pupils had little time to adjust to the expulsion of fellow student Audley as preparations started immediately for the next show.

Get what you give

For Gary, there was a point to prove. Having been saved by the student vote twice, it was up to him to show the public that he was worthy of staying in the Academy.

Vote for wor Gary

The Newcastle lad was due to perform 'Get what you give' by New Radicals but changed to 'Faith' by George Michael in a bid to show his versatility.

And it paid off! Although Gary failed to impress Headteacher Richard Park, vocal coach Carrie Grant and Robin Gibb gave his performance the thumbs up.

Keep the faith

The public appreciated Gary's efforts too as they voted to extend his stay in the Academy.

With the next expulsion show only days away, Gary is back at work preparing again to sing for his place in the competition.

Don't forget to check back with BBC Tyne as we follow his progress through the Academy.

Gary's Magic Moments
