School's out for local lad Gary Phelan as he was voted out of Fame Academy 2003.
His performance of 'Drive' was poorly received by the judges, with Carrie Grant saying 'the song was meant to be sung by a man, not a boy'
When the going gets tough.. Louise, Simone and Gary found themselves in the bottom three, with their place in the Academy left in the hands of the teachers and their fellow students.

Yet again, the teachers voted to save Louise, leaving Simone and Gary to fight it out for the student vote.
The majority of the students voted to keep Simone in the Academy with only James and Barry voting for the Geordie. .. the tough gets going
In a post show interview, Gary said he was 'shellshocked' to be leaving the show but he knew that 'song was hard to sing' compared to the others.
However, he is determined not to allow his exit from the show be the end of his ambition to make it in the music industry.
This certainly won't be the last we see of Gary Phelan!
