Arthur Fery is the one that has had to go out and get at it in each and every round.

When you talk about his lack of experience, he started the year ranked about 190 in the world and he was in qualifying in Melbourne. His win over Flavio Cobolli in the first round at the Australian Open was important today, just knowing that he had beaten him before.

When you are coming in with confidence, grass is a good surface. He has good tennis IQ. He is a phenomenal mover, as he showcases with the way he can stay in some of these rallies. The way he has handled the occasion is impeccable. When opportunities have been earned, he has taken them each time.

    Fritz 4-6 4-6 2-6 Zverev

Some more from second seed Alexander Zverev after his win over Taylor Fritz to set up a semi-final with Britain's Arthur Fery: "It is OK, you guys can all be for Fery - I understand and don't have a problem with it. I hope it is good for me.

"It is going to be an exciting day for both of us as it is our first semi final.

"For him it's a fairytale story - a fairytale for Arthur Fery, see what I did there?

"I have to trust myself and trust my tennis and see what happens."

When asked if winning the French Open and finally getting his hands on a Grand Slam title has released the pressure on him as he secured his first Wimbledon semi-final, he said: "I guess, I don't know. I'm just happy to be still in the tournament.

"Last year at this time I was practising on the hard courts already. It is a dream come true to finally play well at Wimbledon. I've waited a long time for it."

  5. 'Nothing on a tennis court is ever easy'published at 18:10 BST

    Fritz 4-6 4-6 2-6 Zverev

Speaking of Alexander Zverev, here's the second seed speaking on Court One after his straight-set win over Taylor Fritz: "It sounds great to be in a semi-final. I hope to play two more matches here. For now I’m extremely happy to be in the semis."

On ending his run of seven straight defeats against Fritz: "He has been beating me for two years straight and I’m very happy to be in the semi finals after finally getting a win.

"Nothing on a tennis court is ever easy. If I would have played my five-year-old daughter it may be easy - for her. I knew I had to focus from the first moment onwards. In my first service game, I had three break points against me so I knew it was going to be a tough match."

And bageled the world number 10 in the third.

I hope the British crowd keep their expectations at a sensible level? He is a young man with a good future ahead of him. The pressure of being the next great Brit hope is something he does not need. Good Luck!

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 Cobolli

More from Arthur Fery, on whether he would describe himself as cool, calm and collected: "Definitely not on the inside! I felt emotions that I've never experienced before in my life in that last game, and I'm sure it is the same up there [in my coaching box]. It is unbelievable to share this with those guys, they are a great bunch so I'm so happy."

On being the second wildcard to make it through to the Wimbledon men's semi-finals: "I don't know what I'll do over the next couple of days, I've never been in this position before! I guess it will be the first time and we will figure it all out as we go.

"I'm just going to keep going, I've been doing a great job for the past 10 days, so I'm just going to do the same thing and see where that takes me."

  12. 'I just can't believe it'published at 17:52 BST

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 Cobolli

Great Britain's Arthur Fery, speaking on Centre Court after beating Italy's Flavio Cobolli in straight sets in his first Grand Slam quarter-final: "It just seems to get better and better every match! I just can't believe it.

"It was incredible playing on Centre Court for the second time and getting a second win. I just can't believe it.

"I played Flavio [Cobolli] earlier this year and I beat him in Australia which was a boost of confidence, so I knew that I could do it even though it was my first time in the quarter-finals and he has done it before in a Grand Slam. I was very nervous beforehand but I just kept going until the finish line."

Only three players have EVER - again in the Open era - reached a men's singles Grand Slam semi-final as a wildcard.

    Well, four now.

    • Jimmy Connors (1991 US Open)
    • Henri Leconte (1992 French Open)
    • Goran Ivanisevic (2001 Wimbledon)
    • Arthur Fery (2026 Wimbledon)

And these were all superstars coming towards the end of their careers. Arthur Fery has done it as an unheralded 23-year-old.

The last time it happened, he wasn't even born!

And now the question is - can he emulate Ivanisevic by going on to win it all??

  16. British players to reach Wimbledon semispublished at 17:44 BST

    Fery 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 Cobolli

Right, we really need to put this into context.

Here is the list of British players - EVER - to reach a Wimbledon men's singles semi-final in the Open era (so, going back 60-odd years).

This doesn't really happen very often... but for a wildcard? An almost-unheard of? He's doing almost unheard-of things that's for sure.

    • Andy Murray (7)
    • Tim Henman (4)
    • Roger Taylor (2)
    • Cameron Norrie (1)
    • Arthur Fery (1)

The list of Brits reaching a final is even smaller of course.... but let's not look too far ahead, eh?

Energy levels of Fery are incredible, maybe a once in a lifetime moment fuelled by adrenaline but he’s a pocket rocket!

    Dave, Twickenham

Arthur's life will change now, direct entries not only into the US Open but also into the Masters 1000 events, who knows where in the rankings he will end up come the end of the year. The Fery has arrived with all horns blazing... what a thing!!

    Nicholas, Birmingham

How have we not heard of this guy before? His athleticism and stroke play is way better than somebody ranks that low!

  19. Zverev ends terrible run against Fritzpublished at 17:37 BST

    Fritz 4-6 4-6 2-6 Zverev

Away from Arthur Fery's history-making run continuing on Centre Court, over on Court One, nobody expected it to be that straightforward for Alexander Zverev, who has secured his first ever Wimbledon semi-final and done it in straight sets.

The French Open champion also ends a rotten run against Taylor Fritz. He had lost their previous seven meetings.

And it was all wrapped up in just under two hours.

Fritz appeared hampered by a knee injury but he couldn't compete with Zverev's brilliance today.
