The Englishman was by far the better fighter in this bout but the two deducted points for holding and hitting did not help his cause.

It's gold for Ankush Panghal as the split decision goes 4-1 in favour of the Indian.

The judges' scores deem Ankush would have won even without the deducted points anyway.

Nice big connection for Demeji Shittu on Ankush Panghal and the English fighter is happy with that.

But then Shittu is deducted yet another point! That seems incredibly harsh.

That could have handed the gold to the Indian.

Ankush Panghal seems content with trying to make this final round with Demeji Shittu as scrappy as possible.

Can the Englishman land enough blows to take the round?

It's tense with 90 seconds to go.

Teenager Henry Hobbs wins gold for Team England - just their second in the velodrome during these Commonwealth Games.

Ethan Vernon takes a bronze for England as well with Australia's Thomas Cornish winning the silver.

But, there was a massive crash just before the final lap started with three riders still down receiving treatment.

Demeji Shittu is fighting very well but India's Ankush Panghal is hanging in there, refusing to give up.

Shittu lands a one-two but then gets deducted a point, which just leaves the door ajar for Ankush to counter.

The judges rule 3-2 in favour of Ankush for the second round, so the Indian is ahead on three of the five cards going into the final round.

This is massive for Shittu now. He has to win the final round to claim the gold medal.

All the riders are back together until Ben Swift of the Isle of Man launches an attack with three laps remaining...

Scotland's Logan MacLean is really keeping the pace high in this race.

MacLean is in a group of four riders who have split away from the main peloton but the bunch seem happy to leave them out there and expend energy.

We have just ticked into the second half of this race.

England's Demeji Shittu has the height and reach advantage over his Indian counterpart Ankush Panghal, but can he make that count?

You bet he can! Shittu lands a brutal right hand on Ankush and the referee steps in for a standing count.

Ankush continues but that's a big advantage in favour of Shittu in round one and all five judges agree with 10-9s across the board for the 24-year-old.

A really pulsating contest at the SEC Centre.

Two judokas fighting over a bronze medal were walking a tightrope after picking up two penalties, knowing that a third would result in automatic disqualification.

Australia's Danny Vojnikovich made a tackle without a grip, allowing Cusack to claim the medal, to the delight of the home crowd in Glasgow.

Our penultimate final of the evening brings English boxer Demeji Shittu into the ring to compete for the men's 80kg gold medal.

The 24-year-old from London is the world number seven and has already secured Commonwealth Games silver but is targeting his first major title.

His opponent is India's Ankush Panghal, who is 11th in the world rankings.

This should be a good, close-run fight.

England's Jamal Petgrave might look a little disappointed to have relinquished the Commonwealth Games gold medal he won in Birmingham in 2022, but he will at least be on the podium again.

He takes the first bronze medal in the men's -90kg category, bringing down New Zealand's Noah Wallis right at the end and is greeted by cheers inside the SEC Centre.

The first man over the line wins - no points, no second chances, just pure racing.

Oh, hang on there is one detail - if you are lapped you have to drop out.

The medals keep coming for Wales and for Emma Finucane.

She is back out at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome to pick up her gold medal for the women's 1000m time trial.

This is the third time Finucane has stood at the top of the podium during these Commonwealth Games.

Australia's Claudia Marcks is the silver medallist and Ellesse Andrews of New Zealand gets the bronze.

This was a new event for the games having previously been over 500m.
