Jen Kupcho's putter is stone cold this morning. Another short birdie putt wanders wide.

But Linn Grant can't put her side 5UP - her birdie putt sidles by too.

Alison Lee is back up the 10th fairway and has been waiting for the match ahead to clear the green.

She has 200 yards to the front edge and she carries her ball all the way, hitting the left of the green and feeding down towards the hole to leave her partner a 20-footer for eagle.

Celine Boutier is also chasing the green but she doesn't like that. Leaked right. And that's either sand or more heather.

Crucial six footer drained by Lottie Woad on the 10th to keep Europe in this match but still behind the eight ball at three down.

You can see why Nelly Korda loves playing alongside Allisen Corpuz, she's a fairways and greens machine - annoyingly consistent I'm guessing if you're playing against here.

Korda and Corpuz are 4-0 in foursomes and are showing why this morning, no team has ever gone 5-0 in the Solheim Cup foursomes so this could be some history coming up.

There's been 13 European countries represented in the Solheim Cup, including England, Scotland and Wales counting as Great Britain.

Sweden come next in terms of both players and appearances, followed by Spain, France and Germany.

The great Suzann Pettersen is Norway's only representative but she did play nine times for Europe in the Solheim Cup, while Leona Maguire will play in her fourth this week.

Switzerland, Belgium and Finland are the other countries to have Solheim Cup players, all three had just one player make one appearance.

Europe escape with a half on the ninth.

Alison Lee's 25-foot birdie putt wanders right at the last to stay up and Europe want to see Lauren Coughlin knock in the par putt from a couple of feet. Which she does.

More trouble for this US pairing with Jen Kupcho hitting their second shot into a greenside bunker. Rose Zhang knocks out to about five feet.

Maja Stark is chipping from the back edge of the green and plays a delightfully delicate shot in to a couple of feet.

Kupcho missed a slightly longer putt on the fifth, pushing it right. She misses this one too - pulled left.

And Linn Grant tickles in the par putt to win another hole for Europe.

Who will lead the USA charge then? Nelly Korda is well on her way to another point with Allisen Corpuz and she's the world number one but there's plenty of talent in Angela Stanford's side. Who will bring home the most points?

Celine Boutier is wide right off the tee on the ninth. It's into the thickest of the heather that lines these Dutch fairways.

Nanna Koerstz Madsen can only play out sideways.

Lauren Coughlin, from the middle of the fairway, turns the screw with a second into the middle of the green.

But Boutier fires back. Terrific third shot to kick-in range for par. This hole isn't over yet.

Sit rep - it's not going well for Europe's star pairing who find themselves three down at the turn despite making a birdie on the first to go ahead early.

Charley Hull has been a bit wayward and Lottie Woad more solid but not spectacular enough, while Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz have been rock solid and not made anywhere near as many mistakes.

Anything can happen in matchplay, especially foursomes, but against a team that's this solid it's a huge task to try and get back into this match.

In the bottom match though, Europe are dominating.

Rose Zhang from the drop zone nudges her ball into around eight feet but that gives Europe two shots from about the same distance to win the hole.

The Swedes are four under through their first six holes.

The par-four eighth is reachable off the tee. But Europe's pair are making a bit of a mess of it.

Greenside in two, Nanna Koerstz Madsen then hits a skinny chip across the dancefloor and off the other side.

But that's clumsy from Alison Lee who nudges the second shot for her side, from a few yards short of the green, about 10 feet past the hole.

Celine Boutier is timid with her must-make chip for par though and with two to win the hole, the US putt and hole is conceded.

Charley Hull is in trouble on the top match but she has the experience to try and fight her way out of it.

As Hull has the joint most Solheim Cup appearances (7) and matches (27) in this year's event alongside Carlota Ciganda, but with 16.5 points she has the most out of any player teeing it up this week.

She has four wins (technically three outright wins and one retained from the 14-14 tie in 2023) from seven Solheim Cups and is the youngester player ever to take part in the event as she was just 17 when she played in 2013 away in Colorado - going 2-1-0 in her three matches.

Hull is well on the way to becoming one of the great names in the competition's history, especially for Europe, as her eigth Solheim Cup this week draws her level with stars such as Annika Sorenstam and just one behind the likes of Suzann Pettersen, Catriona Matthew and this year's captain Anna Nordqvist.

There's still some way to go to match the ultimate Solheim Cup stalwart in Dame Laura Davies though who has played in 12!

Andrea Lee hit a nice shot from the drop zone on the sixth to give the USA some hope of rescuing the hole with Leon Maguire facing a tricky chip - but Maguire almost goes and holes the thing and leaves it stone dead for the hole.

That's a 2UP lead with Maguire in particular looking razor sharp.

Yes, the Americans have the world number one, Nelly Korda, but then you have to go way down the ranking list for the next highest ranked player in Lauren Coughlin for USA.

They're not in a golden era of American golf in the women's game.

Revel in the rivalry is the catchphrase for this Solheim Cup. This is the 20th Solheim Cup. The last three on European soil have been so close.

A 14-14 draw in Spain three years ago. Prior to that, a one-point victory for the Europeans at Gleneagles. Before that, a one-point victory for America, who staged an amazing comeback in 2015. Everything points to this being so closely matched.

Linn Grant is on the sixth tee. It's only a 166-yard hole but it's over a pond. The Swede fires at the flag and gets a huge roar as her ball sets up a makeable birdie chance.

Jennifer Kupcho, fresh off the missed birdie putt on five pushes another shot though... her ball lands on a slope in front of the green and takes a hope to the right and into the water.
