  1. Burns saves parpublished at 21:35 BST

    Burns -3, Mitchell -1 (12)

Sam Burns tugs his drive into the thick stuff at 12.

He tries to chase one up the front of the green but it just runs out of steam. It doesn't look like the toughest up and down, but this is Sunday at the US Open. There's no such thing as 'easy'.

He decides to take the putter and it's a good call because he rolls it up next to the hole and makes a good four after missing the fairway.

Keith Mitchell finds the heart of the green in two and his 30-footer is tracking...but it just drifts to the right.

These greens are starting to look brown now. This is only going to get tougher for the last few groups.

  2. Poston saves parpublished at 21:34 BST

    Poston -1 (16)

Nicely played by JT Poston after dumping his third shot into the greenside bunker at the par-five 16th.

He's safely out, swirled to five feet and then saved for par.

"This putter's rubbish, go get me one like Wyndham's...."

    Clark -4 (8)

    Andrew Murray
Former European Tour winner on 5 Live

I was thinking about how Wyndham Clark will have to handle this psychologically.

The holes look smaller, the fairways look narrower and you've just got to try and shake all those really big negatives off.

There was always a fella on my left shoulder giving me those negative vibes and I tried to brush him off with my right hand. It's easier said than done.

I feel for him in some ways because he's going through the wringer here.

  5. Hit it Scottie!published at 21:30 BST

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (8)

Hit it Scottie Scheffler! A rolling birdie putt on eight has every chance if he's hit it, but he hasn't! You can't be leaving birdie putts short today Scottie...

Wyndham Clark mops up for par pretty comfortably - happily so after some of those unfortunate comments from the crowd on this hole.

  6. Some jeers for Clarkpublished at 21:29 BST

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (7)

Just heard a few "get in the bunker" shouts from the crowd at Shinnecock Hills and Wyndham Clark hits an approach onto the eighth green.

Not the sort of thing you like to hear - cheer on Scottie Scheffler or your own favourite if you want but don't jeer the US Open leader.

  7. Disappointing finish for McIlroypublished at 21:28 BST

    McIlroy +6 (73)

Rory McIlroy finishes his tournament with a three-over 73.

Disappointing weekend for the world number two. He was two under and chasing the lead at the turn yesterday, but covered his final 27 holes in eight over. Two 73s over the weekend.

He isn't playing the Travelers Championship next week but there'll probably be a few long practice sessions at home to address some of the loose play we've seen at Shinnecock.

Not liking the fact that Clark is getting the jeers...he's played the best golf surely because of the lead he has had on the last two days. In my view, hes a cool, calm and collected bloke that plays sensible golf - it works off like that

  9. Poston in the mixpublished at 21:22 BST

    Poston -1 (15)

I mentioned JT Poston a while back having catapulted himself into the mix thanks to six birdies in eight holes between five and 13.

He's way ahead of the leading groups having just completed the 15th but he really should have been within two.

A four-foot birdie chance has just passed him by, but with three holes to go, he has got a chance to set a number here.

  10. Mitchell moves closerpublished at 21:21 BST

    Burns -3, Mitchell -1 (11)

With Wyndham Clark having missed that tiddler on seven, Sam Burns has the chance to move level with a birdie two on 11.

He's left himself 16 feet. This would be a great time to drain another. Nope, it was right all the way.

    Pity.

Keith Mitchell does make his two, however, after a glorious shot in and now he's just three back.

    Getting oh so interesting.

  11. 'No gimmes'published at 21:20 BST

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

Did we think we'd be talking about players having putts to share the lead? That shows you the drama playing here.

And these greens are getting crispier by the moment. There's a sheen about them.

There are no gimmes around this golf course.

Now then, this has got interesting.

  13. Hold the phone! Bogey for Clarkpublished at 21:18 BST

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (7)

Hang on, we've got a US Open on our hands here folks as Wyndham Clark misses his par putt and drops another shot.

The lead is back down to just one!

And even Scottie Scheffler is still just four back.

  14. Bogey for Schefflerpublished at 21:17 BST

    Clark -5, Scheffler E (7)

Scottie Scheffler digs deep and manages to hole his bogey putt on the seventh - that's a shot gone but at least no more - could that be crucial?

  15. Kim claims much-needed birdiepublished at 21:16 BST

    Kim -1 (8)

Tom Kim has been treading water somewhat since that bogey on four, but he rolls in a lovely 15-footer for a birdie three on eight to get back into the red.

    Far from out of it.

  16. Bunker issuespublished at 21:15 BST

    Clark -5, Scheffler -1 (6)

Scottie Scheffler what have you done!? Well, I'll tell you what he's done, he's tried to be too clever with a bunker shot from a big trap on the seventh and the ball just bounced at the top of the hill and rolled back into the sand.

His second attempt only just about stays out, as he jogs up there to mark it.

Wyndham Clark is in the same bunker but having watched Scheffler he makes sure he gets the ball out at the first attempt.

  17. Burns saves parpublished at 21:14 BST

    Burns -3, Mitchell E (10)

Can Sam Burns bounce back from that bogey on nine?

He's safely aboard the 10th green in two but there's no magic with the flatstick this time.

    Par.

All players using the broomstick putter start the tournament at +5. (Yes this is personal)

    Will, Oldham

Change the rules to allow a free drop from a previous golfer's divot mark. It is unfair to penalise a golfer who through no fault of theirs gets a bad lie.

  19. An Englishman on the risepublished at 21:12 BST

    Parry +1 (15)

    John ParryImage source, Getty Images

John Parry started round three at three over par but three birdies and a bogey have catapulted the Englishman into the top 10 on the leaderboard.

He came through final qualifying to reach his third US Open but first in 11 years.

    Parry has three to play.

  20. Crowd turning on Clarkpublished at 21:08 BST

    Clark -5 (6)

There's been plenty of chat about Wyndham Clark's popularity this week and American golf journalist Kevin Van Valkenburg has reported, external that spectators have been ejected from the course today for jeering the leader.
