Time for a St Mirren update

Scotland forward Lewis Morgan has joined his fourth Major League Soccer club after making the move to Toronto from San Diego.

The 29-year-old, who won the last of his seven caps in 2024, has previously played for Inter Miami and Red Bull New York.

"He has established himself as an impactful attacker in the Eastern Conference over the past several seasons," said Toronto FC general manager Jason Hernandez.

"His flexibility to play across multiple positions in the attack will be a valuable quality for our group moving forward."

Let's hear a bit more from the only signing we've had so far today - Leart Kabashi.

"A fast player on the ball with good technique and good finishes and a team player," Kabashi told HeartsTV about what fans can expect from him.

"I love to fight for the team, give my all for the team and have a big mentality."

Kabashi came through Grasshopper's academy before linking up with the first team and made his debut in February last year. He scored his first senior goal in his second appearance for the club and has featured six times for the Swiss side since then.

When asked what attracted him to the Tynecastle club, Kabashi added: "the tradition, the fans the beautiful city and I think it's a familiar club and I can take the next step in my career here."

As things stand, a necessary caveat on transfer deadline day, Motherwell aren't expecting any bids for any of their 'key' players.

That's welcome news, especially after their impressive win last night, during which Tawanda Maswanhise assisted two of their goals against Dundee United.

I've been told that some of their youth players might go out on loan.

However, after a summer that has seen some of their big names leave for big money, that's likely to be it.

Last night, manager John McGlynn said: "We've got a player coming in tomorrow, and that will be 17 new signings, so it's a transitional period.

"We've got enough quality that we'll be fine, I think."

Reports elsewhere suggest their man is Derby County’s Owen Eames.

The arrivals of teenage Dutch midfielder Joel van den Berg on a four-year deal from PSV Eindhoven and the loan signing of Swiss right-back Jordan Lotomba from Feyenoord were announced after the Scottish Premiership win over Aberdeen.

Earlier in the day, Celtic confirmed loan deals for former England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and teenage Chelsea duo Shumaira Mheuka and Landon Emenalo.

The transfer window closes tonight, but for players to be eligible for continental competition, they needed to be registered on Wednesday evening.

Lotomba, who made 28 appearances for Feyenoord last term, joins on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

You'd imagine this will make it a quiet day for the Champions... you'd imagine, anyway.

Kabashi doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

That feels like a good metric for how 'Jamestown' this signing is, only their computer could find him.

Hearts have signed teenager Leart Kabashi from Grasshopper Club Zurich.

The 18-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal at Tynecastle.

The club say Kabashi is "comfortable in the middle of the park and with an attacking edge to his game."

Also adding he is a "highly regarded midfielder with an eye for goal."

Speaking of Hearts, time for our first signing of the day on here...

Head coach Wouter Vrancken would wager on Claudio Braga remaining at Hearts and thinks a second full season at Tynecastle can enhance the striker's chances of a big move.

"He is fully focused here, fully committed," said the Belgian of the 26-year-old.

When asked if the Portuguese would still be at the club when the transfer window closes on Thursday, Vrancken added with a chuckle: "I think he will be here. I'll bet on this.

"But you never know, so let's hope that we can keep him because he has a lot of value for the team."

Braga has scored twice and provided three assists in 10 outings this term while he hit the net 17 times during his first campaign in Edinburgh, having been signed from the Norwegian second tier.

It would be quite a coup for Hearts to keep the attacker.

With Rangers having reportedly agreed a deal for Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy worth over £9m, future teammate Lawrence Shankland is excited about some competition in the forward line.

"He'll be a welcome addition to the squad and throughout the season we're going to need good players to turn up so hopefully he can come and do that and hit the ground running," Shankland said.

"As I said, obviously you want good competition, you want good players in your squad and that maybe allows us to play different systems at times, obviously the manager likes to change the team to one striker or sometimes two.

"Listen, the more options that we have the better and the quality throughout the squad needs to be good if we're going to be successful in the season."

Deadline day is not the only thing happening, there's an Edinburgh derby this evening.

Hibernian host Hearts at Easter Road at 19:45, meaning there could be some last-minute squad dropouts if a player is lured away by a fellow Scottish club or another league where the window is still open.

It has happened before.

In January 2001, Ross County and Hibernian shared a 1-1 draw on the night the window closed.
