After a shaky start after his move from Heart of Midlothian, Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland is starting to have a similar impact at Ibrox.

The 31-year-old summer signing has three goals in his last two league appearances, including a brace against Falkirk last time out.

Bad news for the visitors is that Shankland has scored 10 Premiership goals against Motherwell - his most against a single opponent.

The bad news for Rangers is that last season's league top scorer, Tawanda Maswanhise, also got off the mark in the Premiership last weekend.

The pressure is surely on Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann considering his side have yet to win a league point, having won once in six outings overall and losing four of them.

Some Aberdeen fans are also not happy with Stephen Robinson considering they have won once in four, losing three.

However, they have beaten Kilmarnock on their past five visits, the latest by 1-0 in April.

Dundee United assistant manager Lee Sharp tells BBC Scotland: "[Will Ferry] felt his groin on Wednesday and he came off with about 20 minutes to go, we made the change and he was struggling a little bit in training yesterday, so we've brought Kevin [Ciubotaru] in.

"Emmanuel [Agyei] is out so there was an enforced change, but we know what Lyall [Cameron] brings and that is why we brought him to the club because of that quality he has in that area.

"With [Zidane Iqbal], we'll see how the game goes and if we can get him on or not. We'll be in communication with the manager as well so he might see that he wants to change it up at some point in the game.

"It's great to have [Jim Goodwin] back in some capacity. Falkirk are a really good footballing team, like ourselves we're trying to play a certain style. We'll see how the game goes but a result of any kind would be great."

Two consecutive wins, and four in their latest five outings, have eased some of the pressure on new Rangers manager Derek McInnes that mounted after their exit from European football.

But they will mount again if they slip up against a Motherwell side earning plenty of plaudits for their style of play under their new boss, Alfred Johansson.

A 3-0 win over Dundee United last week ended a four-game wait for a win and have happy memories of their last visit to Ibrox, winning 3-2 in April, and have only lost one of their last six league meetings.

Should they win again at Ibrox, they will have consigned Rangers to a fourth consecutive home defeat for the first time in their history.

United are another side with problems considering they are still without manager Jim Goodwin despite the Irishman exiting hospital - and his side have won just once in six outings, losing four of them, including their latest two at home.

For all the plaudits aimed at counterpart John McGlynn, his Falkirk side are without a win in four, losing three of them.

However, they won 3-0 in their last visit in November - and 2-1 in their last meeting in Falkirk in March.

The Premiership season is still very much in its infancy, but Aberdeen against Kilmarnock is a game that already feels significant.

After beating Hearts on the opening day, the Dons have gone on to suffer a trio of league defeats.

Killie are making the trip north looking for their first point and looking to plug what has been a very leaky defence.

So there is a fair bit hanging on the outcome at Pittodrie and a win for either side would give the victor a huge boost and would see the pressure increase on the loser.

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "[Owen Eames] is a young lad we've brought up from Derby, we've liked what we've seen from him and we want to go and put him on the park and see how he does. We think he can bring something to the team.

"We're delighted with the way that we've played, we've not picked up points, which is annoying and frustrating, but we've played the top two teams and Motherwell already, so the calendar coming out for us wasn't particularly great.

"It's another difficult game today, a hard game up here, it always is at Tannadice.

"We did well last year, but it's a new season and we want to come here and go back down the road with three points."

Fourth-tier leaders Elgin City are unbeaten in four - and without a league loss - as they visit bottom-of-the-table Dumbarton.

Game of the day, though, is second-top Clyde looking to bounce back from losing a three-goal lead to draw with Spartans as they host an Edinburgh City side unbeaten in six outings.

Meanwhile, third-top Forfar Athletic host fourth-placed Stranraer.

Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "System wise, back to a 4-4-2. Two wingers, a really positive line-up and we feel we can take the game to Kilmarnock.

"It'll be a tough fixture. We want to get a win, we want to get our season on track and gain some momentum. We have to meet the expectations today.

"There's always pressure at Aberdeen. We're expected to win home games. It doesn't matter what results Killie had before, I believe they're a good side, they've got a very good manager and they're a threat.

"We need to play to the top of our ability because there's no easy games in the Scottish Premiership."

Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson tells BBC Scotland: "I'm very happy with this group of players.

"We have definitely got the right people in the door in terms of personalities and character and the values that they all live everyday.

"And, on top of that, they are a bunch of really, really good football players. They fit really well into what we want to do at Motherwell and I'm really pleased with that.

"History is always a factor when you go into a game. Definitely the fact that they've been doing well gives some sort of belief that you're able to do it. At the same time, you've got to stay humble. There's always a mixture of these two that you need to find the right balance."

Unbeaten leaders Hamilton Academical visit fourth-placed East Kilbride in the game of the day in the third tier, with last season's League 2 champions having won all five of their home games this season, scoring 21 goals in the process.

Ross County, one point behind with a game in hand, remain unbeaten in 11 outings this season and are eyeing a ninth consecutive win as they visit East Fife, who are without a win in five.

Third-top Alloa Athletic are unbeaten in five as they visit Cove Rangers, while Airdrieonians are seeking a first league win as they head to Dumfries to face a Queen of the South side still without a point.

Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann tells BBC Scotland: "I was pleased with the second-half performance the other night, without getting what we deserved. I've given them another opportunity to go out there and tell everybody they're a real good side.

"There's no problem keeping the belief high, that's a constant from me and the staff. They know it's early, they know there's been a lot of changes and at times they've underperformed. But there has been signs in most of the games where we've shown our true selves.

"We were really strong in training yesterday, we've travelled well and prepared well. Four league games in, we're disappointed with how we've started.

"The modern way is about understanding where we are. The outside noise is very short-termism. I've not applied any extra stuff to the players. They understand we've not got the points we're capable of getting."

Rangers assistant manager Alan Archibald tells BBC Scotland: "It's been a bit manic over the last couple of weeks, a lot of comings and goings.

"A good strong squad to pick from. You see that today with some guys missing out.

"[Kevin Kelsy is] a wee bit different to the other strikers. He's got a physicality, he'll run in behind, he's a real athlete and hopefully he'll hit the ground running and hopefully get some minutes today.

"[Badredine Bouanani arrived] a bit later. He's not done any pre-season with us. He just got there yesterday morning for a training session. He'll get a couple of days with the fitness guys. He'll be ready for Wednesday night [against St Mirren].

"[Motherwell are a] good footballing team. We need to make sure we stop them. At the same time, we've got to really play our game. Our front four players have been really good recently. We need to get the ball as much as we can and obviously exploit the gaps that Motherwell leave".

Everyone is playing catch-up in the second tier after surprise leaders Stenhousemuir's 1-0 win away to Livingston, one of the pre-season favourites, last night.

The promoted part-timers are now five points clear of Partick Thistle, who are without a win in three outings - but unbeaten in 13 at home - as they entertain Ayr United, who are themselves without a win in four.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are without a win in five as they host Raith Rovers, while Queen's Park have not won in four as they entertain a Greenock Morton side who drew away to Ayr last week after seven straight defeats.

On-loan Derby County midfielder Owen Eames makes his Falkirk debut, with DJ Fodrey dropping to the bench.

Six Scots start, with another three on the bench.

Will Ferry is missing for United after recent transfer speculation about the left-back, with Kevin Ciubotaru starting in his place for his first Premiership start.

But on-loan Rangers midfielder Lyall Cameron starts and former Falkirk midfielder Dylan Tait also returns.

And, on the subject of the SFA proposal, there are two Scots in the United starting XI.

Like Rangers, opponents Motherwell make two alterations to their starting XI.

Australian defender Jake Girdwood-Reich and attacker Ibrahim Said start, with Jamie Knight-Lebel and Seb Palmer-Houlden dropping to the bench.

In terms of young Scots, 21-year-old defender Euan Williams is on the bench. Former Rangers midfielder Alex Lowry, who starts, and substitute goalkeeper Matthew Connelly and defender Stephen O'Donnell are the other Scots.

There's no place in Rangers' starting XI for new signing Kevin Kelsy but the Venezuela striker signed from Portland Timbers is on the bench.

Fellow deadline day recruit Badredine Bouanani does not make the squad.

In terms of changes to the starting XI, manager Derek McInnes, who serves the second of a two-match touchline ban, selects Dujon Sterling at right-back and Dan Neil in midfield.

Kosta Nedeljkovic misses out and Cammy Devlin is on the bench.

And, on today's hot topic of young Scottish players, there is one under 21 in the squad - winger Findlay Curtis in the starting XI. There are four other Scots in the squad - Liam Kelly, Ross McCrorie, James Penrice and Lawrence Shankland.

Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann changes three from the disappointing 1-0 loss to St Mirren on Wednesday night - and he reverts to a back-four.

Jamie Brandon comes in at right-back, Aaron Tshibola comes into midfield, while striker Djenairo Daniels makes a first league start in almost a year after a bad knee injury.

Johnly Yfeko misses out completely after coming off at half-time through the week, while Mark O'Hara and Tyreece John-Jules are on the bench.

Two Scots start in the XI, with a further three on the bench. On-loan Rangers midfielder Bailey Rice is one of those substitutes and the only under-21 player.
