Fair play to Hull, they’ve been the far better team. More desire, more fight. Really poor from United.

    Hull 2-0 Man Utd

All over and what a return to the Premier League for Hull City as they beat - and arguably beat comfortably - Manchester United.

Plenty for Michael Carrick to analyse there - the visitors ultimately lacked intensity and ideas.

United don’t look ready for the season at all, fitness levels and desire well below Hull players which is criminal and if we are honest, has been an issue for years now.

It seems the same every season with Man Utd. The players do enough just not to get sold during pre-season and December, then back to the default strolling about.

    Ben, North Wales

This is really concerning for United, they have Champions League football in a couple weeks yet they can't even create anything decent against Hull. Hopefully it's a one off game otherwise it's a long long ride for United fans these next few months.

How does Luke Shaw still get a game? United fans can say what they like but this is a game they would expect to win. And it's not looking that way.

    Mark, Melbourne

I just don't see anything to make me think there is a way back for Utd here. Looks like we've had no pre season, players have only just met. Awful.

Matheus Cunha plays a neat pass to send Bryan Mbeumo away. He holds off a Hull defender before driving a shot at goal but Konstantinos Tzolakis reads it well to make the save.

Hull have been absolutely outstanding. If you go to a newly promoted team on the first day of the season it's always going to be difficult. They've been the miles better team. Man United have been shocking, no hunger, they've been terrible up to now. There's nobody on the end of their balls up front.

Man Utd have been really disappointing overall but particularly in forward areas, they haven't created anything at all.

Michael Carrick has to be concerned with what he has watched so far.
