Just not good enough! Not clinical, late sub made (could’ve done with making 2-3 by this point) and the whole team look lacklustre. Going to be a long season ahead for Chelsea

    Lou, London

Sonia Bompastor was riding on Hayes' coattails in her first season, was found out last season and same again today. To not make any changes at 80 minutes is bonkers. The sooner that Malard is fit, the better!

Both huddles will have a completely different feel. Villa will be feeling good for coming back into it after that first half. Chelsea will feel disappointed - they dominated for so much of the game.

It's a cliche, a game of two halves. Chelsea dominated the first half but will be aggrieved to go in not scoring more goals.

Villa were poor by their own standards but were different in the second half, the subs made a difference too.

The desire and fight from the group - every game has to start like that. They can't have 45 minutes and then start doing that.

Great game for Aston Villa, rattled Chelsea. They managed the game excellently, really tidy. If Villa do play like that, they are going to cause some damage in this league.

    Chelsea need to do better.

This is a Chelsea on the slide. This kind of performance has been coming and will likely be a foretaste of the season to come. Not expecting them to win anything this season

Sonia needs to go. Why are we taking so long in games to make changes

Manager needs to go, not good enough last year, awful start this year, get Hayes back

We have been inundated by angry messages from Chelsea fans in the last few minutes, we will bring you the best correspondence shortly.

But a word of credit for Villa, who rode out the storm of the first half and took their chance when it came. For a side tipped to struggle, this is an important point.

Credit to keeper Asane Okuma too, who made nine saves including a belting late stop from Lauren James.

Lauren James puts her free-kick wide, and that is that.

Chelsea drop points against Villa for the first time in 13 WSL meetings.

Now Chelsea do have a free kick just outside the Villa area. Justine Kielland trips Lauren James and gets a booking on her WSL debut.

    One last chance?

Katie McCabe tumbles to the floor just outside the Villa area, but the tackle was fair.

Lucy Bronze then sends a cross onto the roof of the Villa net.

Chelsea are running out of time.

What about this for a debut save! Okuma, that was so sharp. Your team are hanging on, defending for their lives, it was so sharp, so disciplined, so agile.

To turn it over from that distance, great save.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 90 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa

This could be an all-time great WSL debut from Asane Okuma.

Chelsea seem certain to score when a cross bounces free in the Villa box, and Lauren James slams a first time effort.

But somehow Okuma sticks out her left leg and diverts the shot over the bar.

From what I’ve have seen of Chelsea this season they look disorganised and predictable. They needed to sign a creative midfielder this summer but missed out on Putellas. They will struggle

That latest James effort was Chelsea's 30th shot of the game.

Their finishing, by and large, has been really poor.

Classic Chelsea under Bompastor. Air of arrogance on the pitch, passive play, poor in front of goal. They need to treat the opposition with more respect and they will win these games they dominate.

Lauren James has been wasteful since her early goal. For not the first time this season, she fires over the bar from just outside the box.

In fairness, there was now way closer to goal for Chelsea - Villa are defending so well.

Arroyo has done a good job. Even when she's made substitutions, the defence hasn't changed, everything has stayed the same. All the players are clear about where they should be on the attack.

Wasteful up front. Not clinical enough. No changes until after 80 mins is baffling.

Chelsea have got some real unpicking to do, the detail hasn't been good enough. There's been opportunities to finish the game off. There's no excuses, they've had two games to bring themselves up to speed.

In their previous 12 WSL meetings, Villa lost all 12 to Chelsea.

A point here would be a massive mental boost.
