Ashley Hay scored Dundee's fourth goal against Airdrieonians

Dundee twice came from behind to begin their Premier Sports Cup campaign with victory over Championship visitors Airdrieonians.

The teams were meeting in this competition for the fourth successive year, while they also opened against each other this time 12 months ago.

Airdrie, who beat Dundee 1-0 in 2025 and 2023, struck first with just over 10 minutes on the clock as trialist Kian Taylor's effort came off the post and in off Dundee goalkeeper Harry Sharp.

Charlie Reilly equalised with an impressive strike into the top corner from distance.

But Sam Fisher restored Airdrie's advantage just before the break with a stunning free-kick from near the halfway line that sailed over Sharp and into the back of the Dundee net.

Ethan Hamilton levelled once again for Dundee in the early stages of the second half with another long-range strike, this one, like Reilly's earlier effort, curled into the top corner.

Dundee took the lead for the first time after 70 minutes as Joe Bevan beat the Airdrie goalkeeper Jamie Sneddon at his near post.

Striker Ashley Hay added a fourth shortly, rising highest to head home Reilly's corner.
