Highlights: Glentoran v Bangor

Glentoran are now without a win in their past three league matches after a 1-1 draw with Bangor at a tense Oval.

Lewis Francis' header broke the deadlock in the final 10 minutes of an even first half, to the exasperation of the home fans.

However, the Glens levelled on 56 minutes when James Douglas' effort struck the crossbar, deflected off stopper Patrick Solis Grogan and found the back of the net.

The result means that the Glens have won just two of their opening six games as pressure mounts on manager Declan Devine, while the Seasiders have drawn two of their past three matches.

Tough start continues for Glens

The away side came close to breaking the deadlock on 17 minutes when Steven McCullough's deflected free-kick crashed off the crossbar.

Zeno Ibsen Rossi then nodded Harry Lynch's header from a McCullough corner off the line after stopper Billy Crellin had been beaten.

The Glens had multiple good chances of their own with Solis Grogan called into action to gather Jack Malone's effort and Ethan Brown's header which found the back of the net ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

Bangor's patience paid off in the 38th minute when they opened the scoring after Glentoran failed to clear MacKenzie Strachan's corner which was headed on by Harry Lynch and Tiarnan Mulvenna before the unmarked Francis converted from close range

After the restart, Glentoran looked much more dangerous and levelled the match when James Douglas' effort from 35 yards struck the woodwork before taking a deflection off the helpless Solis Grogan and finding the back of the net.

The Glens pushed for another goal in the closing stages, but substitute Greg Sloggett and Jordan Stewart were both unable to keep their efforts on target.

At full-time, the home fans made their opinions known as the players left the pitch to a chorus of boos.

'The fans have every right to boo' - McCann

Glentoran first team coach Tim McCann: "Not good enough, from a Glentoran point of view. This is the Oval and the fans pay good money to pay through the gates and come support us.

"What we served up in the first half was not good enough and was unacceptable. We have to give credit to Bangor.

"Yes, we huffed and puffed, but we did not do enough to win the game. The fans have every right to boo. This is not acceptable of a Glentoran team at home, regardless of who we are playing, these players have to stand up and be counted for.

"Once they cross the white line, they have been given all the instructions. They are men, they have to lead like men and right now it is not happening. It is so frustrating, I have no words into why they are not doing it."

Bangor manager Lee Feeney: "Glentoran got their goal at a good time, but we displayed a lot of character to hang on and get something out of the game.

"We should have had another goal of two in the first half with the pressure we put on. The start we had to the season was not appropriate; it was not what we were expecting and not good enough.

"The last two weeks have been tough so it is pleasing to leave here with a point. Our mentality was excellent and we were never losing this game with that mentality."
