So relegation, relegation and... no promotion.

A pretty dismal midweek if you're a Rotherham, Northampton or Bromley fan but there's still some hope left in the week if you're the latter.

Leagues One and Two return on Saturday when Notts County play Barnet in an attempt to deny Bromley a place in League One for another few days, while Cardiff visit Reading aiming to rise back to the Championship.

If the Bluebirds drop points then they hand Lincoln City the League One title but the Imps will be hoping to earn the silverware themselves with a victory over Stevenage.

Can't wait until then? We will be back tomorrow to see some second-tier action as Coventry City try to ensure their return to the Premier League against Blackburn Rovers.

Bromley missed the chance to win promotion once again tonight but they may not have to play another minute to do so if Notts County fail to beat Barnet on Saturday.

While Cambridge edge a little further into the top three but not far enough.

Not only could a Notts win defy Bromley their promotion, they'd also leapfrog the U's to knock them out of the automatic promotion spots.

Bromley don't play again until next Thursday when they visit Salford.

But they could be up by then. If fourth-placed Notts County fail to beat Barnet at home on Saturday, Bromley will be promoted to League One.

Kell Watts came closest for the U's with a header that required action from Bromley keeper Grant Smith but this half was all the league leaders.

So no promotion for the hosts, who will have to wait until Saturday to see if they can earn a rise to League One this week without even touching the ball.

But they at least keep their unbeaten record at home this season with only Walsall yet to visit on the final day of the season.

Cambridge get the first touch but it lands at Byron Webster's feet. He gets a shot away but it's blocked to Mitch Pinnock, whose effort is off target.

All these chances but Bromley are being mighty wasteful with so little left on the clock.

Port Vale might be going down to League Two, but they're not going down without a fight.

An early goal from Ryan Croasdale and two wonderful free-kicks in each half from Ethon Archer have still given Vale a glimmer of hope of making the great escape but the facts don't lie. They're 12 points from the safety line with 15 to play for.

Peterborough stay four points above the drop zone, although one crumb of comfort is they have a game in hand on the sides below them.

Another Bromley corner finds a white shirt but the header goes north.

The hosts have been relentless this second half but as it stands they aren't seeing any real reward for it.

Cambridge makes some changes in a bid to quieten this Bromley surge.
