Liverpool's wide play used to be frightening. The quality of Frimpong and Kerkez is what is letting this team down. Trent and Robertson created so much for Liverpool over the years.

  3. Postpublished at 13:16 BST

    Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Cody Gakpo gets to the byeline before cutting the ball back. Dominik Szoboszlai steps over it and Alexander Isak knocks the ball into Victor Munoz.

Not sure if it was a bad bit of control or an intentional pass from Isak. Anyway Anfield debutant Munoz shoots over from 12 yards.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:15 BST

    Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Forest striker Igor Jesus has been a real handful so far but he goes a bit far here by clipping Alexis Mac Allister so gets booked.

I just think Liverpool are slightly predictable at this moment in time.

They need to find a way of Alexander Isak involved, Liverpool have to try and stretch Forest.

I've enjoyed some of Forest's diagonal and crossfield balls today - and Matz Sels' long kicks upfield. Not afraid to get the ball in the air.

  7. Much better from Liverpool since going behindpublished at 13:13 BST

It's much better from Liverpool since going behind but they could really do with getting on level terms before half-time. Nottingham Forest started well but Andoni Iraola's side are starting to create openings and chances now.

  8. Postpublished at 13:13 BST

Very laboured from Liverpool. Such slow build-up.

  9. Postpublished at 13:11 BST

    Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has only touched the ball four times. No other outfield player for either team is even in single figures.

Liverpool have spent over £300m on attacking players last season and this. Yet there are yawning gaps in defence and we still lack a defensive midfielder. Player recruitment has been a series of schoolboy errors. Big money spent, poor return.

    Now they do!

And Matz Sels gets his first save of the game to tip over Florian Wirtz's header from Cody Gakpo's cross.

  12. Postpublished at 13:09 BST

    Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Liverpool are yet to have a shot on target in this game - because the disallowed goal doesn't count obviously.

  13. Postpublished at 13:07 BST

    Liverpool 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Good run from Liverpool winger Victor Munoz, who starts in his own half before bursting forward and into the box. But he's already stumbling and losing his footing as he goes down in the box.

Forest back on the attack now and Ola Aina dries a ball with his shirt before another long throw. But Liverpool clear this.

When the ball came into Jeremie Frimpong it looked close, he's just slightly offside.

I knew there wasn't a lot in it but the bottom line was he was in an offside position.

  18. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-1 Nottingham Forestpublished at 13:03 BST

    Florian Wirtz

Liverpool's first proper chance of the game and they are level.

Two or three Forest players fail to deal with Jeremie Frimpong, who finds Florian Wirtz and the German spins and shoots into the bottom corner.

Isak and Wirtz nowhere to be seen in the first 30 mins. Worried that they won't kick on this season after all.

    Adam, Southport

Liverpool look the same as they did last season. So slow and laboured. Where's the new manager bounce? Concerning!

    Chris, Christchurch

There is a lack of confidence in this Liverpool team that makes average opposition look good. Needs to be sorted and the coach has to find a better balance.
