In the first of a new series of On The Ropes, John Humphrys talks to Shy Keenan who for over a decade was subjected to abuse at the hands of her step-father and his cohorts.
She was raped and beaten on a daily basis. But Shy survived. She rebuilt her life and fought back against her abusers. After being exposed on BBC’s “Newsnight” programme her perpetrators were convicted and now she campaigns to prevent paedophiles from damaging the lives of any more children.
John talks to Shy about how she rebuilt her life and her role today running the Phoenix Survivors website.
