'I no know say di phone my sister gift me na stolen phone' - Chidimma Ojukwu sister tell court

Elder sister of Chidimma Ojukwu di alleged killer of Super TV Boss Usifo Ataga don tell court say true true, her sister gift am phone, but she no know say di phone na stolen phone.

Chioma Egbuchu na di third defendant for di ongoing trial of her younger sister Chidimma and one Adedapo Quadri wey be di second defendant.

Wen Chioma enter di witness box on Monday, she tell court how her sister gift am di phone for June 2021, few days before di arrest of di suspect.

According to her, Chidimma invite her to come to her house for Alagomeji Yaba, and she honour di invitation. She say two of dem never see each day since 2015.

"Wen I reach dia, I notice say her house don change wit new new tins. Air condition, new mirror, phones and laptop plus new painting for di wall" na so she tell court.

She say she try to know wia how she take get dose tins, ask her weda she dey work, di sister reply am say, "na my man friend support me to get all dose tins".

She try to inquire who be dis man friend, but di sister tell am say no be every of her boyfriend she go introduce to am.

According to her, Chidimma carry one phone give am say she dey gift am di phone.

She say di phone na "iphone 7plus". But wen Chioma ask am how she take get am, she reply say "na from Computer village, e cost 100 plus, but e no get receipt or packet".

She tell court say na some days after her visit to her sister, her friend call am to tell am say e see sometin online wey concern her younger sister Chidimma, say Police dey parade her for TV and around.

But she say before den, e no know anythin about di case.

She say e shock her wen she hear di tori, say "e shock unto say I bin no know anything".

According to her, later Mr Ojukwu wey be Chidimma foster father call her to inform am say di phone wey di first defendant gift am na stolen phone, say make she return am to Panti (Panti na Police Station for Lagos).

She tell court say she and her mother and uncle follow go Panti to return di phone, say dem write statement dia wia she tok say she no know say di phone na stolen phone.

She say dem search di phone, dem no see anything sake of say e dey blank.

Wen di lawyer ask am weda she dey aware say di phone dey stolen, she say, "Wen she give me di phone, I no dey aware say di phone dey stolen."

Wen time for cross examination reach, Barrister Praise Ookpola wey represent di second defendant ask for adjournment, unto say di main lawyer wey bin dey represent di second defendant no dey court.

Di Prosecution team wey Y.A. Sule dey led reject di request for adjournment unto say dem get today (Monday) and Wednesday wey be 22nd to finish di case.

However after much deliberation, Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourn di case to Wednesday 22nd April 2026 for conclusion of cross examination of di third defendant.

Background of di case

Di case don dey go on since 2021 wen police arrest Chidimma Ojukwu afta dem find deadi bodi of Michael Ataga for room wia him and Chidimma bin lodge.

Police bin parade am for TV and social media and later charge am to court along side her alleged accomplices Adedapo Quadri and her elder sister Chioma Egbuchu wey police collect one of di phones from.

Police also search Chidimma house and sieze plenti exhibits.

So far, di prosecution counsel don close dia case for di court, Chidimma don give her testimony for court, likewise di second defendant wey be Adedapo Quadri.

Now na her sister turn to give testimony and answer questions from counsels wey dey involved in di case.

Wen dem conclude her cross examination, parties involved go file dia final notice and di court go give judgement ontop di matter.

Meanwhile, Chidimma Ojukwu and Adedapo Quadri dey prison custody since den, while her sister Chioma Egbuchu dey from home come di trial, as she dey on bail.

Some of Chidimma Ojukwu testimony so far

During one of di court sittings, di court admit two different statements wey Chidinma write wen dem bin arrest am.

She bin don earlier tell court say no be she kill di deceased, say she come back to dia hotel room and meet di man in di pool of im own blood.

During her recent testimony for court, Chidinma tell court say afta she comot from di apartment to go buy food and juice, she bin comeback to di apartment, knock di door but she no get any response.

She push di door open, na wen she see a disturbing scene: blood stains for floor and Ataga dey lie down motionless in a pool of blood.

"I drop evritin wey I bin dey hold, I rush go meet am," she testify. "Im eye dey half-open and im pulse bin no dey."

Chidinma describe her relationship wit Ataga, she say na for November 2020 e start, afta dem bin introduce am to her by one mutual friend, Fiyin wey be di girlfriend of Ataga friend, James.

She say Ataga dey supportive and generous, she claim say im bin don pay her school fees and give financial support for her cosmetics business.

She tell court say Ataga bin contact her on 13 June, 2021, wen im inform her say im birthday dey come and im invite her to spend time wit am bifor im scheduled trip to Abuja for a family celebration.

Sake of renovations for wia im dey stay for Victoria Garden City (VGC), she say Ataga bin suggest make dem book hotel or short-let apartment for Lekki, wia im bin get business meetings.

She get one apartment for 19 Adewale Street, off Ologolo Road, Lekki, wey Ataga approve.

For evening dat same day, dem bin meet for di apartment, dem go out togeda go eat for Ango Villa restaurant wia dem bin buy wine, dem later go back to spend di night togeda, drinking, eating, and smoking.

She also tell di court say di following day wey be 14 June, Ataga bin ask her to help am buy loud (one type of Igbo) and rohypnol.

Im send her N15,000 to buy am, im later send anoda N25,000 for food.

On 15 June she tok say Ataga request for di loud again, im tell her to pay for am sake of say im bin no fit do bank transfer dat time.

Im bin also give her money for food and juice.

Wen she comeback to di apartment wen she finish her shopping, Chidinma narrate how she bin struggle to reach Ataga becos of di food order.

Wen she eventually arrive, she see say di door dey slightly open, and as she enta inside, she see im deadibody.

"I bin dey in shock, I wipe di blood off myself, change my clothes, and pack my belongings," she tok

Among di items wey she agree say she bin take from di apartment na brown envelope wey contain Ataga bank statements, im ID cards, documents wey belong to one Mary Johnson, and some pieces of jewelry.
