What to expect from the King's visit to the US

King Charles III is visiting the United States, for something called a state visit.

This is an important trip where representatives from both countries meet to talk and build good relationships.

During his visit, the King will meet the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The two men will also attend a large, formal dinner with important guests, and the King will give a speech to a group of American politicians.

This visit matters because there have been some disagreements between the US and UK governments recently.

President Trump has criticised the UK's Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. The two leaders have also had different ideas about how to deal with big world problems, including the US and Israel's conflict with Iran.

BBC Royal Correspondent Daniela Relph explains what this important visit means and why it is happening.
