How 10-year-old Evie found an axolotl in Wales

An endangered Mexican axolotl was found living under a bridge near Brigend in south Wales.

The creature was found by 10-year-old Evie, who saw it in the water hiding under a green mat.

At first she didn't have anywhere to put the axolotl which she's named Dippy, so she carried it in her "auntie's gravy jug" until they could get a proper tank.

Evie's discovery is the first documented case of the species being found in the wild in the UK.
