Ma France - Tips 4 & 5 - Shopping and Work
Bonjour !
Now you’ve completed Units 2 and 3 you’re ready to embark on the next two stages. They cover language we use on a daily basis and you’re sure to find them helpful.
Tip 4 :
In the video clip, the Jourde family writes a shopping list for a trip to the market. Why don’t you make a habit of writing yours in French too? It’s excellent practice. Then, when you get your shopping home, say each item out loud as you put it away: une boîte de thon, une botte de carottes, 4 tranches de jambon, etc. Make it part of your shopping routine.Tip 5 :
When we meet new people, we are often asked what we do for a living. Qu’est-ce que vous faites comme travail ? Few of us work on the ski slopes, so it’s worth spending a little time planning a few phrases to answer that question. Je suis technicien et je travaille dans un laboratoire. Use a dictionary to look up an expression to explain what you do, then you can pick out other phrases from video A to give a fuller description and explain your hours. Don’t forget to say what you think about your work. C’est passionnant ? Is it exciting?
If you’d like to work on your French with a friend, then check out the Tutors’ section. In Ma France en classe you’ll find a range of suggestions for how to practise with a partner or with a group.
Check out the mini lessons on 'Shopping and paying' and 'Talking about work'. They last 7 minutes and are very good to use as revision.
