PNE WFC U11G 5-1 Bolton Wanderers

By Aidan Lupton
PNEWFC U11 girls’ team guaranteed at least runners up spot in the LFA league this weekend with ultimately quite a convincing win against a Bolton Wanderers side that had started better.

Preston conceded first inside 10 minutes but an equalizer from Emily L in the first half and second half goals from Helen S, Gemma B, Olivia M and Hannah C secured the victory.

For the first 10 minutes Bolton were the more effective team and Preston conceded a goal during this period when Bolton's number 7 cleverly went past Chaz on the edge of the box and drilled a firm left foot shot just inside Holly's left post. The Preston girls then began to assert some authority on the game with Chaz, Hannah and Gemma combining well to create chances. They got a deserved equalizer after 25 minutes when Emily picked up the ball just inside her own half and ran strongly through the Bolton defenders and on into the area, before sliding the ball past the advancing keeper. Seconds later Holly was forced to make a great diving save to deny Bolton by her right hand post.

With the wind at their backs in the second half Preston were quickly on top and went ahead inside two minutes when the ball was scrambled out to Helen just outside the box. Her right foot shot was very powerfully struck and left the Bolton keeper with no chance of preventing it from hitting the back of the net.

Moments later PNE were 3-1 up when Gemma picked up the ball from a long throw from Emily. She lost her marker and slotted the ball inside the right hand post. Olivia scored PNE's fourth with the clock on 10 minutes. She went past the defender on the left wing and slammed it in the goal with her left foot as she cut into the box.

The final goal came with only seconds on the clock when Helen picked the ball up in defence, she found Emily in space who threaded a neat ball through to Hannah in the Bolton box. With only the goalie to beat Hannah slotted it calmly inside the right hand post.

Final Score:

PNE WFC U11G (5) vs Bolton Wanderers (1)
