PNE WFC v Mill Hill

U11s Girls PNEWFC v Inter Mill Hill

By Aidan Lupton
Preston extended their winning run with a confident 12-0 victory over Blackburn side Inter Mill Hill FC this weekend.

In the game against Inter Mill Hill, PNE were quickly on top and it wasn't long before Sam opened the scoring with a strong right foot shot from the right hand side of the box. A minute later Hannah added a second and shortly after Olivia added a third with a left foot strike from the corner of the box on the left wing.

Hannah added PNE's fourth after 12 mins when Emily slotted through a delicately weighted pass into her path and Hannah slotted the ball past the keeper inside the left post.

PNE's fifth came shortly after when Olivia ran onto a ball from Hannah. She rounded the keeper and walked the ball over the line.

Just before half time PNE made a couple of substitutions and within seconds of coming on Gemma rounded the full back, dummied the keeper and then slotted the ball inside the near post for Preston's sixth. Gemma then turned provider for Emily when she squared a pass from the left into the centre of the box. Emily's first two shots were both well saved by the keeper but the second rebound came straight back again and the third time Emily made no mistake and lifted the ball into the roof of the net.

Five minutes into the second half Chaz then poached Preston's eighth when she directed a ball into the net from close range after good work and a shot from Gemma from the left corner of the box. Helen then rampaged through from defence to show she wasn't going to be left out and after a great solo run down the left wing she cut in on goal and her shot from 20yds hit grazed the bar.

Gemma added PNE's ninth 11 mins into the second half. Then from the restart Inter Mill broke toward the Preston goal but Mariah was there to snuff out their advance with a well-timed tackle. From the resulting goal kick Holly found Hannah who passed the ball out wide on the left to Olivia. Olivia carried the ball to the edge of the box and drove it hard toward goal. The shot was too hard for the keeper to hold and it ended up in the back of the net for PNE's tenth.

PNE's eleventh and best goal came when Hannah cleverly turned the left back inside out with her skills on the right wing and gained enough space to cross the ball. Her cross was met on the volley by Gemma who had made a late run into the box. From five yards out and with the outside of her left boot she clinically found the corner of the net.

With the game virtually over, Emily was caught in possession and went down injured on the half way line, the ball broke to an Inter Mill Hill forward and she was quickly in on goal. With only Holly, to beat she looked certain to score. But Holly made a great diving stop by her left hand post and pushed the ball round the post to preserve her fourth consecutive clean sheet.

From the resulting corner Emily tidied up the loose ball and found Olivia with a long pass down the left wing. Olivia took the ball to the edge of the opposition box and collided with the keeper as she came out to meet her.

Olivia was first up and quickly found Hannah unmarked in the middle of the box. With the keeper still on the floor Hannah stroked the ball into an empty net to take the final score to 12-0.

  • PNE have now scored 52 goals in the last 4 games, without conceding one! The girls travel to last years' champions Blackpool next weekend and it is bound to be a much more testing game.
