What is Kent Thameside?

Kent Thameside is the name given to the Thames Gateawy development sites that fall within the Dartford and Gravesham boroughs, north of the A2. Find out more...

Kent Thameside

The Kent Thameside region

The Kent Thameside region covers 22 square miles of north Kent and will see the creation of 25,000 new homes by 2026. The majority of these new homes will be built on redundant chalk quarries and redeveloped industrial brownfield land. Nine miles of Thames waterfront will be opened up to new and existing housing developments. One third of all new housing will be "affordable" housing.

Click the links below for more information on each of the principal development sites:

Projects already completed in the Kent Thameside region include: Crossways Business Park, the largest mixed-use business park on the M25, covering 315 acres; Ingress Park is a 72 acre site with 950 homes close to the historic Ingress Abbey with the next phase under construction at The Pier and Bluewater Shopping Centre, which attracts 27 million visitors per year and provides employment to over 8,000 staff.

Each development site within Kent Thameside has been planned around public transport links. Fastrack is a new bus network linking established centres to new developments. The service links into Ebbsfleet International, connecting to St Pancras International in 17 minutes and to Paris in less than two hours.

Ebbsfleet Valley will be the showpiece for Kent Thameside. Some 789,550 m2 of development is proposed around the new rail station, including up to 10,000 homes.

International services already run from the station with full roll-out of domestic services following in December 2009. This will be complemented by expanding and regenerated town centres and waterfront.
