Howard Moon encounters Old Gregg

The Legend of Old Gregg

After playing possibly the worst gig in the history of music, Howard and Vince avoid the audience's retribution by escaping the city for a week. At Black Lake they plan to kick back, recharge their batteries and work on some new material.

There they arrive at the King Prawn's Head, a simple honest fisherman's tavern, where a local artist recommends they try some moonlit fishing to encourage creative inspiration.

Once out on the lake, Howard doesn't find the fishing quite as relaxing as he had hoped, especially as he hasn't managed to catch anything. Vince on the other hand can woo fish out of the water with personality alone, so Howard banishes him to shore on the emergency dinghy.

Back at the tavern, Vince learns that fishing isn't about fishing at all, but about telling the tales. He also learns that you should never go fishing on Black Lake when the moon be full, for that is when Old Gregg emerges. Some say he's a ghost, while The Moon says he's like a big fish finger the size of a garage. But in fact the merman's dark secret is far worse.

Vince again calls upon Naboo for assitance, but it's already too late for Howard, blinded by exposure to Gregg's dark secret and taken back to his cave, where he's been plied with Baileys and rubbish watercolours. Old Gregg wants to be loved and won't take no for an answer, even in the form of disco.

Luckily Naboo has a second-hand submarine at his disposal.
