Alf Kumalo

Alf Kumalo has been photographing Nelson Mandela since the 1940s.

He has also borne photographic witness to some of South Africa's most historic moments, the Sharpeville Riots and the Student Uprising of 1976, right through to Mandela's 80th birthday.

His new book, a collection of photograhs called 8115: A Prisoners Home, gives us an insight into the Mandela family home from intimate family portraits of him as a young man, through to his 1990 homecoming.
