Sorry I haven't been able to do this sooner but my move to London has been pretty hectic!
I'm feelin fine, if not a little tired, but it's all self inflicted cos I've just been partying too much! I've been to three premieres in a row these last three nights and there always seems to be a free bar afterwards, well you can imagine I'm sure. It's been great getting out there, getting invloved in the London nightlife.
I've been to a few snazzy places...
 | | Will Smith stars in Bad Boys 2 |
For the Sean Connery Premiere of 'The League of Extraordinary Gentleman we went to 'Ten Rooms' for an after party.
Will Smith got up on stage spontaneously (I didn't even realise he was there!) and busted out some rhymes, it was wicked.
That night I was hanging around with Ray and Tania from Big Brother and Ricardo from the salon last year! Such a laugh.
The next night it was Bad Boys 2 premiere. OMG fantastic film, go see it.. GO, GO.. GO NOW! Well, finish reading this, then you can go.
I was too tired, and well to be honest I didn't have enough money, to get a taxi home that night, so I missed out on the after show party and caught the last tube home.
But I made up for it last night, went to see Ewan McGregors new flick at High Street Kensington's Odeon, not quite as flash as Leicester square but brilliant all the same.
Renee Zellweger was there... oooo la la. Me and my mate Dan (Gareth's bro, I live on a boat with him, remember?) partied hard all night long and ended up in someone's cottage in Rickmansworth. Where on earth is Rickmansworth!? Good night anyway, and damn, you know what, I 've gotta go out tonight again, Cafe de Paris in London somewhere, been guest listed. All good.
So yeah, I've settled into the nightlife, but my bank balance has not! Anyway, I can't let all that distract me, this week John Maclaughlin's been tied up in the Fame Academy house so we haven't had a chance to record or anything.
Anyway, so this week I'm just chillin, partying, having a laugh. Next week though, I'm gonna be sensible and get my head down and concentrate. Need to get back in the studio and get my band sorted (it's almost there!).
So I guess I haven't told you anything about how that weekend was up in Glasgow! Sorry, this is late to those that have been looking out for it.
That day, was crazy... I started the day at home, up bright and early, went down to my mates house to pick up some sound equipment for a gig I was doing at my local ASDA for the charity 'tickled pink'.

They asked me to help them out and get a crowd in so I did. Me and my sound guy went up to the supermarket to set things up at about 10 ish, but I didn't get away till about 11 cos everyone kept stopping me for autographs and ringing their daughters so I would speak to them over the phone! Crazy, but nice to be noticed.
I finally got away and had to go to my other mates to practice a few songs, he had just crawled out of bed so I had to slap him a few times to wake him up and then we got things going.
Thing was I had to be on stage at around 1, and still hadn't packed my bags for the train I was catching at 2.30pm for my weekend up in Scotland.
This is what I do you see, and my Mam's always nagging at me for it, I don't blame her really, but being organised and doing things normally just isn't my style. I did the gig, good crowd, fans screaming, went down really well.
Then I was driven into town where I had to leg it to the train station to catch my train for Glasgow. Luckily the train was a bit delayed so I made it. Phew!
So, I finally gets to Glasgow. I steps off the train and I hear this voice 'GARY!'. I turn around and there's two lads sitting outside a pub in the train station, they wave at me and give me the thumbs up, which was a nice welcome so I thought I would go over for a chat.
Turns out one of these guys is a lead guitarist in a band and so I got talking about how I'm actually recruiting people for my own band.
He seemed interested and so I invited him and his mate along to the gig I was doing that night in Merchant Square. He got to meet John, and John liked the look of him. His name's Ian Thomson and he stuck around to see me perform. He was impressed with me and so we arranged to meet on the Tuesday coming up after I had been to Perth to do some promo in some schools.
On Tuesday night, I saw his band rehearse and they were really good. Ian was a bit of a magician on the guitar and I knew I wanted him in. | | Alex - gets Gary's vote to win Fame Academy |
The drummer I thought would fit in as well, he was very hot and I mean really hot. He also sings, which is a bonus, as does Ian, so bring on the three part harmonies.
I'm now in the process of getting them down here to meet up with my management. Should be happening next week sometime, hopefully.
In the meantime, I'm still writing a little, can't wait to get back in the studio and show people some new ideas. Mark Fox from Polydor records has some people who want to work with me which can only be good. Once the show's over this weekend, things should properly start to kick off. I'm not gonna just sit around and wait for it to come to me, I've been working hard and will continue to do so, people will take notice of my determination, and hopefully like my album, from there... its up to you!
Oh, guess you'd probably like to hear my prediction for Saturdays final? Alex should win, but she won't, annoyingly I reckon Alistair might pip it, but the man won't last. Take my word for it, come on!... he's got me for competition!
Cheers,
Gary
xx.
