Everyone has a story to tell and we want to inspire as many pupils as possible to tell theirs for 500 Words. In this Live Lesson, pupils will discover how story ideas can grow from their own experiences, interests and imagination.

Together, we'll explore where stories come from, create unforgettable characters and discover how a simple question can spark an exciting adventure. Featuring top tips from authors, the lesson is designed to help children build the confidence to start their own 500 Words story.

What is 500 Words?

500 Words is the UK's largest story-writing competition for 5-11 year-olds. This year, entries open from Tuesday 29 September and will close at 9pm, Friday 6 November.
