If you missed it, the big story of the day so far is the quarter-final exit of women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka.

Last year's runner-up was in a commanding position against Diana Shnaider but fell away in the second half of the match and was beaten 6-0 in the deciding set.

    *Auger-Aliassime 2-2 Cobolli

Goodness me - the wind is REALLY picking up in Paris.

Flavio Cobolli hits a shot which Felix Auger-Aliassime looks to have well covered but it holds up in the wind and almost goes back in the direction of the Italian.

You can see the clay being blown around and it's far from straightforward playing in these conditions.

Cobolli holds to level the first set.

Flavio Cobolli has a chance for another break of serve but Felix Auger-Aliassime finds a forehand winner to take the game to deuce.

    Auger-Aliassime 0-1 Cobolli*

The three Italians - Flavio Cobolli, Matteo Arnaldi and Matteo Berrettini - are all in the same half of the French Open draw.

The two Matteos meet in tonight's quarter-final.

So a Cobolli win here would guarantee an Italian will reach Sunday's final - and if you'd said a couple of weeks ago that an Italian would be there, you'd have risked a lot on it being Jannik Sinner.

We're at deuce in Cobolli's first service game.

Another break point chance for Flavio Cobolli as Felix Auger-Aliassime nets a forehand, and on break point the Canadian goes wide.

A demonstration of the tricky conditions on the very first point - Felix Auger-Aliassime has an easy smash at the net and completely misses the ball!

A double fault follows from the Canadian and he's immediately 0-30 down in his opening service game.

The quarter-finals keep on coming. Men's fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime is up next to take on Italy's Flavio Cobolli - the 10th seed. They're about to get under way on Court Philippe Chatrier.

As the second-highest ranked player left in the men's draw - after Alexander Zverev - Auger-Aliassime should be the favourite on paper.

But Cobolli, who has never reached a Grand Slam semi-final, has won both of their previous encounters - although those victories came on hard courts.

It is back to the drawing board for Aryna Sabalenka.

    Is it the conditions again?

When you play with such low margins for all of your tennis, the one time that is going to come into the spotlight is on a windy day.

The one thing you need to do in the wind is increase your margins. When that is not your game style and there is the refusal to have a plan B - every now and then it is going to really hurt.

How much do these two losses hurt her? I think a lot.

Last year I thought she felt the title was hers. This year she would have thought the title was hers too.

So, after all the shocks and upsets, the women's semi-final line-up looks like this:

    • [25] Diana Shnaider v Maja Chwalinska [Q]
    • [15] Marta Kostyuk v Mirra Andreeva [8]

If any of you called that, get those lottery numbers on now.

Here's what Diana Shnaider had to say, speaking on Court Philippe Chatrier after beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka: "Well, honestly I am speechless. Super happy. Obviously, today tough conditions with the wind.

"Obviously, the first time playing in an arena - super nervous. So definitely a lot of nerves. The first set was trying to adjust to her game, trying to figure out how to play.

"I feel like I was trying to focus point by point. Not thinking about the score. She is the world number one, so I just trying to do my best. I just had to fight for every point."

"Definitely a super special win. I feel like in the third set I finally found my rhythm and how to play and where to be a bit more. The third set was the one I should be aiming for from the beginning. Super happy to finish on a good note. Super special tournament for me here."

On preparing for the semi-final: "Today we are going to take care of the body and recover and get ready for tomorrow. It is going to be a lefty battle, so I am looking forward to it."

Another massive upset here at Roland Garros.

Aryna Sabalenka has lost 12 of the last 13 games of the match!

As for Aryna Sabalenka, only she knows what happened there.

She was just two points from victory late in the second set, but the drop-off had already started by that point.

She made 57 unforced errors, many of them in those bizarre final 13 games which saw her go from complete control to exiting the tournament.

Yes, Diana Shnaider improved massively, but that match was entirely on Sabalenka's racquet.

The only remaining Grand Slam finalist in the women's draw - and overwhelming title favourite - is gone.

I feel I am with the crowd. I am stunned to silence. What a turnaround. You have to give credit to Diana Shnaider. She stunned Aryna Sabalenka. Sabalenka had no answer, and you very rarely see that.
