Rafael Jodar's win over Pablo Carreno Busta in the previous round was his 19th on clay courts this year - more than any other player on the ATP Tour.

Three more of those victories would see him crowned French Open champion, but the Spaniard does not feel "in a rush" to achieve great things.

"I will go with the belief - as I have done in all my matches - that if I do the things well, I can take the win," Jodar said.

Rafael Jodar has come through a couple of five-setters to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open, spending almost 13 hours on court across his four rounds of action.

Alexander Zverev, meanwhile, has yet to go beyond four sets in any of his four matches - winning three of them in straight sets.

There's a gulf of around four hours - pretty much equal to an extra match - in terms of their time spent on court.

But it might be worth noting that Jodar has youth on his side. The Spaniard is 10 years the junior of Zverev.

There is a new Rafa in town at the French Open.

No sooner had 14-time champion Rafael Nadal waved goodbye than Rafael Jodar - the latest talent from the Spanish production line - announced his arrival.

Last year, 19-year-old Jodar was a university student ranked 707th in the world when Nadal, who had retired several months earlier, was given an emotional Roland Garros send-off.

Now, on his main-draw debut on the Paris clay, Jodar has emerged as a dark horse for the Coupe des Mousquetaires.

If the 27th seed can find a way past German Alexander Zverev in Tuesday's quarter-final, he will become one of the new favourites to be victorious on Sunday.

Next up is the men's singles quarter-final between second seed Alexander Zverev and teenager Rafael Jodar.

The winner will face either Czech Jakub Mensik or Brazilian Joao Fonseca in the semi-finals.

Here's what Marta Kostyuk had to say after reaching her first major semi-final: "I want to start with this historical match. We had another difficult night in Ukraine, especially in Kyiv where so many people died, so I want to give this match to Ukraine.

"We both have foundations that support tennis in Ukraine so I would be grateful if you could donate and support us.

"I want to point out Elina's incredible impact on tennis, Ukrainians and me. She is incredible.

"I missed one point in the beginning of the third set and I'm very happy that I could find a way. The first two sets were difficult. I wasn't aggressive enough and I was struggling to find my rhythm. I started to commit and ask myself how I need to play to win this tournament.

"I still think it [the title] is very far. I have two matches to play and hopefully you will come and support me on Thursday."

On whether she will be doing another backflip to celebrate: "In Madrid I practiced the day before the final. I don't need to practice here - I did it a month ago - but I promised I will only do it again when I win a final."

Marta Kostyuk is the first Ukrainian to reach the women’s singles semi-finals at Roland Garros in the Open era - and the second including males after Andrei Medvedev in 1993 and 1998.

She has reached her third WTA level clay court semi-final of the year, which is more than in her entire career prior to this season.

Victory over Elina Svitolina makes it 17 wins in a row for the 23-year-old, who will be full of confidence heading into her semi-final and driven to take Ukrainian tennis all the way.

A few signs beginning to show now that these two are feeling the pressure of the occasion - most evident on serve - as both seek to become the first Ukrainian woman to reach the Roland Garros semi-finals in the Open era.

But between the tense moments we're still seeing some excellent shots. Kostyuk reaches 15-30 with a sublime forehand, and two break points as she slices in a volley.

A final drop shot completes the job for yet another break of serve.

That's 22 winners apiece from these two so far - but it's Kostyuk who has made 10 more unforced errors (34).

Having perhaps been somewhat unsettled by Elina Svitolina's aggressive style in that second set, Marta Kostyuk makes a lightning start to the third set as she races to a 0-40 lead and three break points.

Svitolina saves the first two, but Kostyuk pounces on a tentative second serve to make the breakthrough.
