    Boulter 1-6 3-6 Vekic

Katie Boulter left the court without speaking after suffering what must have been a crushing disappointment.

The 29-year-old saw off world number two Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals but may well have expended too much energy in that grueling three-set win.

Donna Vekic, meanwhile, only qualified for this WTA 500 tournament as a lucky loser but will now face either Briton's Emma Raducanu or Iva Jovic in Sunday's final.

Raducanu returns to action at 17:20 BST after winning through her quarter-final 6-3 7-5 against Kamilla Rakhimova earlier today.

Katie Boulter digs herself out of trouble, clipping the line with a winner to move to 30-30, but then fires a backhand wide to give Donna Vekic match point.

Again the brave Briton finds the lines as she takes the game to deuce, but then puts a forehand wide with the court at her mercy to give the Croatian a second match point.

This time Vekic is just too good, beating Boulter win a superb winner to take the match in straight sets.

Katie Boulter cannot afford to go another break down, you would imagine.
