Ireland went a full ten rounds of a boxing match with France but there is still a little bit of naivety in the team but also so much quality.

  3. "That was a real test match"published at 22:21 BST 25 April

Ireland head coach Scott Bemand speaking to BBC Sport:

"That was a real test match. France showed extreme physicality but we put them under pressure.

I think we learned a tough lesson tonight in not taking our points but I am so proud of the team. The girls have left everything out there but we will keep going after the finer margins.

"We have two massive home games to come and we can't wait play in front of our home fans".

France are proving they are a second-half team. It's the third Test now in which they've really shown up in the second half. I'm gutted for Ireland, because they poured their hearts in that game. We were dominant in the first half, we played all the possession. But you can have all those entries into the 22, but if you can't come away with tries, it does make it very hard and frustrating to keep going back. And when things aren't going your way - a knock-on at a ruck, held-up tries - it's very disheartening.

Absolutely gutted. It was probably a tale of two halves. Ireland played all the rugby in the first half. And unfortunately, looking at the visits to the 22, which I think were 12, they only scored one try. And then you see the French team take control of both possession and territory, and when you give a French team full of flair an physicality that type of possession, then they're going to punish you.

It's all over at the Stade Marcel Michelin as France pick up the bonus point to go level on points with England at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Ireland are held scoreless after half-time after those three disallowed tries in the first half.

  7. try

    Lea Champon (Arbez con)

France go through the patient phases and, eventually, number eight Lea Champon powers over to get the crucial bonus point.

Carla Arbez adds the extras to put some gloss on the scoreboard.

Another ruck penalty and France go to the corner and get within ten.

A couple of minutes to get this fourth try.

France win a penalty and Carla Arbez nudges into the corner. They are on the hunt for the bonus point with five minutes to go but they spill the ball in the maul and Ireland might be able to clear their lines.

More good footwork from Eve Higgins and Ireland win a penalty on the 10-metre line.

However, one again, Dannah O'Brien puts too much on the kick and sends it dead. With eight minutes to go, that could be a crucial mistake.

They were lining up outside, and if it wasn't Grando, she had players inside and out. But what a finish.

  12. try

Try France 19-7 Irelandpublished at 21:48 BST 25 April

    Anais Grando

France go through the hands and that puts the home winger into the corner. That has been coming as there is only so much pressure the Irish defence can soak up.

Carla Arbez pushes the conversion wide but, with just over 10 minutes remaining, that has pushed France out to a two-score lead.

I'm pretty sure my seat just shook there after that hit! Stacey Flood smashes Lina Queyroi and Ireland win the penalty at the ruck.

The intensity and physicality of this game has been off the charts.

Goodness me some incredible handling from France. Ireland bend but don't break as Pauline Bourdon-Sansus puts a cross-field kick in aiming for Anais Grando but Anna McGann gets between her and the ball.

You can see the Ireland urgency to get the ball into Aoife Wafer just to get those carries. The momentum Ireland get off those carries means the France defence has to go backwards.

Three points go begging as Dannah O'Brien pushes a penalty off the tee wide.

More points left out there by the visitors that they may well come to regret.

Eve Higgins makes a break but loses her footing as she gets through into space. Ireland keep the ball and work it wide left and Anna McGann is a stud's width in touch.

Two subs making headway for Ireland.

France are making their chances count.

They have 14 points from six visits to the Irish 22, compared to just seven points from double the amount of visits for Ireland.
