It wasn't all good news for Manchester United last night as £70m summer signing Carlos Baleba suffered a hamstring injury that looks set to rule him out of action for a while.
The former Brighton midfielder had to go off in the 51st minute after he got injured while charging into the Roma box on the attack.

At half-time when [Manchester United] were down 2-0 it was almost an acceptance that it was going to be another defeat.
There was no anger, there was just a quiet lull in the stadium and from the minute Manchester United came out at the start of the second half, [Carlos] Baleba with that run where unfortunately he looks to have done his hamstring as he was breaking through, but that run from Baleba just seemed to spark some sort of life into Manchester United and into the crowd here.
The crowd came alive, they got right behind their team, they were singing the Michael Carrick song. They're certainly behind their players and they're behind their manager, who they love so much for everything that he achieved here during his playing days.

I hope Carrick is given time. It feels better to win with him than with a manager who has no love for United.

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick says he loves Shea Lacey and the youngster has "a bit of mischief" about him.
The 19-year-old has been used sparingly by Carrick this term, even though he has kept fully across the development of United's academy stars.
Lacey had only made four substitute appearances and a start against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, when he scored his first senior goal, prior to last night's Champions League comeback against Roma.
Carrick put Lacey on for Amad Diallo 15 minutes from the end, with United still trailing and desperately searching for a way to get back into the game.
The Liverpudlian unsettled the Roma defence by running with the ball, supplied the crucial assist for Matheus Cunha's winner and emerged as one of United's inspirations on what turned out to be a night to remember.
"We love him to bits, you know," said Carrick. "He's a great young man; he's got great ability and he's desperate to do well. He's got that little glint in his eye, he plays with a bit of mischief."
Yet it wasn't just Lacey's ability in attack that impressed Carrick.
Last season, Under-21 coach Adam Lawrence made a point of highlighting some of the defensive work the youngster had done. After Roma, Carrick did the same.
"I was just as happy seeing him defending as a right-back when we needed it," he said. "As a rounded footballer you've got to be able to do that.
"He gave everybody a bit of a lift coming on the pitch. It was fantastic to see, and he made the most of what he had."

Shea Lacey is a special player. He's a really special talent and it's important that [Manchester United] don't rush it.
I think Michael Carrick is managing him because the easy thing for him to do is just to go and play him but there is obviously a reason that we don't know and for me it's probably because he is being a bit clever with him.

It was a very good win but lucky enough to get the retake on the penalty to start the comeback. Need to keep winning games without needing the motivation of conceding goals first. Positively, I thought Shea Lacey changed the game when he came on. Very direct.

Image source, Getty ImagesI said at half-time 'if you're going to go down, go down fighting'. You can accept losing if you've given absolutely everything and they didn't do that in the first half. But they did in the second half. The tone was set with Carlos Baleba. It was so unfortunate he got an injury for it but that was a spark.
Youri Tielemans came on and that changed the game a little bit. There was a little bit more control. When you're playing in these games and you're two down, you're already done, so you may as well go and give it everything you've got. You may as well run around. That should be the standard and now the great thing about it for Michael Carrick is now he has something to refer to.
Any time there's a difficult situation or pre-match team talk, it's going to be look what you do when you apply yourselves in that manner, then you are impossible to live with.

I think that is a huge second half for Michael Carrick. It wasn't pretty football necessarily but it was a battle and a fight. It was all about the intensity, they were winning the ball high up the pitch, they were pressing Roma's back line and they weren't letting them out.
They were direct and positive in what they did and that's not really been something we have seen from Man Utd through this dreadful run they have been on.
For Michael Carrick, he will hope that second half is a benchmark now that they put down to say 'this is where we go on from here'.

Maybe you can use Arteta as an example of sticking by a manager. It has pretty much been since Fergie. United have jumped the ship too early and sacked a manager before they can really get going. At the same time, results need to improve soon.

Before we continue to look back at Manchester United's thrilling fightback, here's a recap of all Tuesday's results:
Man Utd 3-2 Roma
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was asked whether the win at home to Roma would save boss Michael Carrick's job.
"We don't need to save anyone's job," he said.
"The club needed that win, the players needed that win. We have been working so hard to get out of this situation all together."

After being left on the bench for Manchester United's 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth, captain Bruno Fernandes returned for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.
He then was named player of the match after United came back from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2, claiming one goal and delivering the cross for Mathues Cunha's equaliser.
"Everyone thought that was a punishment for the words that I had, and if it was, it was right," Fernandes said about the Bournemouth game. "The manager is the one who makes the decisions.
"It doesn't change the belief I have of the manager and the staff and every player in this club," he added. "It doesn't change my aim to win every game that I have ahead of me."

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke to the media for the first time since being dropped to the bench after publicly criticising Michael Carrick's tactics after their 4-1 loss at Como in their previous Champions League game.
"It's been tough, there's been a lot of speculation in the media," Fernandes told Amazon Prime.
"A lot of lies around many things that have happened between me and the manager, that we have cleared the air, then after that the manager took the decision to put me on the bench because I'm not performing. That's fair."

Despite Manchester United's terrible start, Michael Carrick still believed they could get something from the game.
The head coach insists he is blocking out the external noise and remains fully committed to turning the club's fortunes around.
"At half-time, I was wanting them to be more positive, if anything, and not get too disappointed and frustrated," said Carrick.
"When you keep trying to do something, the easiest thing is feeling sorry for yourself. If something goes wrong, you get disappointed. That's not going to help anybody. We might as well all go home if that's the case. We've got to keep looking for the next moment, the next solution.
"I don't like to keep talking to the lads about what this place can do and the history and what's gone before too much, but it's there.
"This place does magical things, it's done it before and it'll do it over and over again at some point in the future. There's just something in this place that when we do have these types of nights, we do it the hard way.
"But one moment can flip the whole place in a different direction. I spoke about that with the boys. Let's have one moment that can trigger it. And we had that."

Stick with Carrick is the right way. Look at the Brighton fans, baying for him to be sacked last season after a long run of bad results. Wow, has he turned it round!
