  1. Birdie for MacIntyrepublished at 16:15 BST

    MacIntyre E (10*)

Birdie time! There's the Bob MacIntyre fist pump.

He brilliantly curls in a 15-foot putt.

    He absolutely loved that one.

  2. Shinnecock there for the taking?published at 16:12 BST

As easy as it gets all week!

This is a tamer test on day two.

The wind is down by about 10 mph and the course remains soft. This side of the draw need to make hay.

We’ve a significant couple of hours ahead as they bid to pull clear of the later starters.

  3. Postpublished at 16:09 BST

    D Johnson -2 (11)

That's the hole Dustin Johnson made bogey at on the back nine here in 2018 when gunning for the title against eventual winner Brooks Koepka.

Not a fan of the 11th.

  4. Punishing double bogey for Johnsonpublished at 16:08 BST

    Clark -5, D Johnson -2, Woodland E (11)

Just as we got excited about a bit of jeopardy at the top of the leaderboard, Shinnecock Hills bites back.

The par-three 11th is the second hardest hole on the course, as Dustin Johnson finds out as first his tee shot rolls into the bunker, then his splash out lands on the green but rolls back into the adjacent sand trap.

In the end, he's left with nine feet just to escape with bogey, which he misses. A killer.

The only saving grace? Wyndham Clark can't profit from an 11-foot birdie chance so doesn't move further away.

  5. Pars for Rose & Rahmpublished at 16:06 BST

    Rahm E, Rose -1, Spieth +4 (8)

Justin Rose does well to save par after finding himself out of position.

He is two under for the day and is playing some excellent golf.

Jon Rahm makes par to end his bogey run.

  6. Rai makes huge birdie puttpublished at 16:04 BST

    Rai +1 (12)

Monstrous from Aaron Rai as he drains from 30 feet at the 12th to go three under for his round.

Back to +1 for the tournament, and probably just about still in this.

  7. Bogey for JTpublished at 16:04 BST

    Thomas -1 (10*)

Justin Thomas makes his first mistake of the day with his first bogey on the card coming on the first hole, which is his 10th of the day.

And again, despite all the talk about how slow and easy these greens are, he's missed from four feet like so many others have done already today.

  8. Bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 16:02 BST

    Firtzpatrick -2, DeChambeau +3, Hovland +4 (11)

Matt Fitzpatrick's par run ends, but not in the right way as it's a bogey on the tough 11th - which is playing as the hardest hole on the course so far today.

After finding the bunker off the tee Fitzpatrick does the hard work by flicking a chip out of the sand to about five feet, but he misses the par saver and slips back to two under.

    That one will sting.

  9. A small descent for the leaderpublished at 15:59 BST

    Clark -5 (10)

    Nial Foster

It was the ninth hole, Ben Nevis, that finally slowed Wyndham Clark down.

Just his second bogey of the week came there, before Dustin Johnson trimmed his lead further at the following hole.

    Wyndham Clark
  10. Postpublished at 15:58 BST

    MacIntyre +1 (9*)

Bob MacIntyre shoots 36 for his opening nine holes - three bogeys and two birdies.

Will he find some more birdies?

  11. DJ trims Clark's leadpublished at 15:54 BST

    Clark -5, D Johnson -4, Woodland -1 (10)

First to go is leader Wyndham Clark but his solid effort trundles around the lip and stays out.

No such trouble for Dustin Johnson mind, and suddenly the lead is just one shot.

  12. Postpublished at 15:50 BST

    Clark -5, D Johnson -3, Woodland -1 (9)

There's a short-game clinic going on over at the 10th as Wyndham Clark, Dustin Johnson and Gary Woodland all clip second shots onto the green and inside 10 feet for birdie.

Be nice to see them cash in.

  13. JT turns in 32published at 15:49 BST

    Thomas -2 (9*)

Justin Thomas teed off on the 10th today and he's reached the turn in a three-under 32 to sit on two under for the tournament and looking strong.

He's obviously feeling good as he gets the furniture out on the first tee and hammers his drive down there to get his back nine under way - and it just clings to the let edge of the fairway after a helpful bounce off the collar.

  14. Another bogey for Rahmpublished at 15:48 BST

    Rahm E, Rose -1, Spieth +4 (7)

Jon Rahm is not having a good day. He makes bogey after missing an eight-foot putt.

That's three bogeys in four after being the only player not to make a bogey in round one.

  15. Poor birdie trypublished at 15:47 BST

    Firtzpatrick -3, DeChambeau +3, Hovland +6 (10)

It's not the best birdie try by Matt Fitzpatrick on the 10th so he remains on three under, but he's now just two shots off the lead.

He's parring Shinnecock Hills to death as well with 10 of them out of 10 holes played - over halfway to a Sir Nick Faldo round.

  16. Another birdie for Schauffelepublished at 15:45 BST

    Schauffele -2 (9*)

We mentioned Xander Schauffele a few moments ago and the two-time major champion continues to ascend.

A diamond approach at the 18th (his ninth), a nonchalant birdie putt from six feet and he's into a share of fifth at two under par.

Three birdies in four holes. He's probably tracking for his usual top-five finish here.

  17. Clark drops a shotpublished at 15:41 BST

    Clark -5, D Johnson -3, Woodland -1 (9)

Chance for Dustin Johnson to trim Wyndham Clark's lead but he's pulled his six-footer wide of the cup and it's a par at the ninth.

Not that it matters because Clark misses his own shortish putt, this time for par, and drops his first shot of the round.

It'll certainly help the field if he loses his eye on the greens.

  18. Conners joins group in secondpublished at 15:40 BST

    Conners -3 (10*)

We've not really talked about Corey Conners but the Canadian is having a good day today after his country's huge win at the World Cup last night.

He's just rolled in a birdie at the first (his 10th) to grab a share of second place.

  19. MacIntyre bogeys eighthpublished at 15:37 BST

    MacIntyre +1 (8*)

Disappointment for Bob MacIntyre at the 17th (his eighth) as he misses from six-and-a-half feet and has to stomach a bogey.

A bit of a momentum killer given the birdie at 15.

  20. Big miss from Rahmpublished at 15:36 BST

    Rahm -1, Rose -1, Spieth +4 (6)

Jon Rahm hated his tee shot but redeems himself with an excellent approach to 19 feet.

However, his birdie putt slides past the cup, and he makes matters worse by missing a simple par putt.

Justin Rose does make par, while Jordan Spieth blows up with a double bogey.
