  1. Jones taken to right-back 'very well'published at 09:56 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Curtis Jones playing right-back: "He's taken to it very well. Not perfect, but that is normal. But very well.

"He has hardly played there in his career but the way he does is a big compliment. He twice played well, and against Palace was better than Everton in terms of defensively.

"He shows great personality in whatever position he plays. Always wants the ball and never scared to take a risk, which is something he may have to adjust playing in the last line than in midfield.

"It is one of his qualities to bring himself out of a tough position. Usually the ball is in safe hands as he's very good on it."

  2. 'It is also important to improve staff wise'published at 09:51 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool boss Arne Slot on adding to his backroom staff: "We all know we lost a member of staff [former set-piece coach Aaron Briggs] during the season. We parted ways.

"It makes sense that if someone is leaving in a certain department to look for a replacement. It is also important to improve staff wise as well as player wise.

"We are always keeping our eyes open for a staff member or player."

  3. 'Helpful if everyone was available every once in a while'published at 09:48 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Back to Liverpool boss Arne Slot on if his side are back to the level they should be: "No. I think we can be at a much higher level than we are now. If you look at the results then you can be positive - three wins from three games - but performance wise it is not our three best of the season.

"We can play much better and have shown we can. In many of those games, we have been unlucky. I would not say in the last three games that we did not deserve to win, but we were more lucky than we have ever been this season.

"It would be helpful if everyone was available every once in a while. That has been the issue throughout the season and it is very extreme at the moment."

  4. 'Constructive talks' with club owners - Howepublished at 09:46 BST

Newcastle v Brighton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

As mentioned, we have full quotes from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe coming up:

    • He has spoken about "constructive" meetings with the club's owners, adding that there were very exciting times ahead for the club, regardless of what happens in the short term.
    • Howe also said that there had been no change in terms of the support he feels from the club's owners and was very pleased by the level of support but added that he understands how football works and the Magpies need to get results.
    • He added that he had not sought any assurances about the financial backing the club would receive from the Saudi owners.
    • Howe also says "I have to retain that confidence" that he will remain in his role next season.
    • The Newcastle boss confirmed that Joelinton was back available and Anthony Gordon had trained but would be assessed.

  5. 'I am not in this job to see if I've been criticised too harshly'published at 09:38 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on how he is judged: "It is on you guys [the media] to decide if I have been too harshly judged. That is not up to me. I am judging my football players, if they are working hard enough and execute on tactics.

"I am not in this job to see if I've been criticised too harshly. That is not the way I spend my time."

  6. 'Top level' Isak will help convert more chancespublished at 09:35 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on his side's recent consistency and converting more chances: "Having Alex [Alexander Isak] more available helps. He is top level.

"In general, having more players available will help with consistency. At the moment, not playing three times in seven days also helps.

"Converting chances to goals is something we have not done well this whole season. One of the players that we thought could [Isak] has hardly been available.

"Last week you saw with a chance, which wasn't the biggest we've had this season, he finished it really well Alex.

"Scoring a goal is vital for setting you up in the right way. Happy to have Alex back. It is unfortunate we don't have Mo, who has been a great goalscorer over the years, on Sunday.

"Alex and some other players have not scored the amount of goals I think they are capable of, or have done in previous years.

"That will go back to normal at some point. The sooner, the better."

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Manchester Untied under Michael Carrick: "Last season, their players were better than their league position suggested. After another transfer window, we can now see how good they really are.

"It might be a bit of an advantage that they only play once a week, but as I said before, when analysing them, I saw how good they are - and it's the same now.

"They’re more consistent in their results."

  9. Slot on Wirtz 'improvement'published at 09:28 BST

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on moving above Manchester United to finish third: "We are aware that it is a very big game. Not only because we play Man United, but to qualify for the Champions League and to get the highest possible league position.

"We wanted to win the league - that is not possible - so we are trying to finish as high as possible.

"A win [which could secure a top-five finish] is the right step forward. It is an important step, it is definitely not a step backwards."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot Mohamed Salah's return: "He is always working incredibly hard during the season when he is fit and when he is injured to get back as soon as possible.

"Usually he is back earlier fit than other players. He has a minor injury and we expect and need him back for the final part of the season, but not for Sunday.

"It is a big relief that his injury is minor and he is able to play for us and at the World Cup. If a player deserves a big send off then it is Mo."

If the Anderson tackle was a red then so were a few others. There was a similar studs up challenge by a Villa player earlier and Hutchinson was badly fouled numerous times. Emery needs to focus on coaching, he would make a very biased ref.

    Jason

Anderson can't win the ball and stop his momentum immediately. Also in the game a Villa player caught a Forest player with studs on the ankle with same decision (no action). This is consistency, which is what is needed.

    Martin

People moan about consistency but the ref was pretty consistent last night, and let a lot of challenges go for both sides. I wouldn't have much to complain about if Anderson was sent off but the decision was consistent with how the ref managed the rest of the game.

    Rob, Forest fan

Emery is clutching at straws claiming Anderson should have been sent off - he got the ball first and there was no malicious intent. It was a tight game which Forest edged and makes for an interesting second leg at Villa Park.

  20. Reds talking pointspublished at 08:59 BST

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

    Liverpool

The future of goalkeeper Alisson Becker and the fitness of Mohamed Salah look to be the key talking points going into Liverpool's match at Manchester United on Sunday.

Brazil international Alisson is going into the final year of his contract and has been linked with a move away from Anfield.

The 33-year-old is currently out injured and fans are concerned that he could have played his last game for the Reds.

Salah, who is definitely leaving at the end of the season, is also out with a hamstring injury, but despite initial fears at the weekend that he could have played his last game for Liverpool, the club said this week that it was a "minor muscle injury" and he should be fit enough to return before the end of the campaign.
