    USA 1-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina

USA are slowly but surely dropping a little deeper and Bosnia are enjoying their best spell of possession of the game.

Tim Ream has to be alert to cut-out a ball into the area.

The 1-0 lead feels pretty slender about now...

You can see straight away Bosnia are more positive. They are that little bit further forward now, looking to press USA higher up the field, win the ball higher up the field.

Good spell from Bosnia, pushing forward down the right before the ball is worked back to Nikola Katic 35 yards out.

I'm sure this was intended as a cross, but it ends up as a shot which slices narrowly over the bar. It had Matt Freese scrambling just for a second.

I think they are certainly positive substitutions for Bosnia.

They had to do that. There are some exciting players here that they're hoping can get on the ball and look to create something, test that USA backline.

Dzeko limps off, having become the first man aged 40+ to play a knockout match at a World Cup. Something he'll have forever.

Ivan Sunjic and Armin Gigovic also make way with Benjamin Tahirovic, Esmir Bajraktarevic and Ermin Mahmic coming on.

    This is a sad sight.

Edin Dzeko has pulled up, looks like a thigh strain, and he's limping towards the dugouts.

Nikola Vasilj comes off his line to get a good punch on Antonee Robinson's inswinging corner form the right and then bounces up to gather the bouncing ball as it's nodded back into the mixer.

Rather chaotic first couple of minutes of the half but Christian Pulisic glides down the left and cuts back onto his right before curling in a deep cross which is nodded behind for a corner.

‘USA USA’ ripples through in a crowded and loud LA Galaxy Park after that magnificent Balogun goal!

And another roar as he just missed that last try which hit the top of the goal.

The United States are riding a wave of confidence but knock out matches are never guaranteed… there's a lot of playing time left.

The World Cup final is less than 18 days away and we are getting closer to finding out who will lift the trophy.

Before tonight's game BBC Sport revisited some of the concerns around a World Cup partly held in the United States.

Would tickets prove too expensive? Would football fever not take hold? Is football simply too far down America's priorities?

We asked some of our reporters at the World Cup whether their perceptions had changed.

Maybe Mauricio Pochettino will say 'when we're getting ourselves into those good positions, can we be that bit more clinical in front of goal? Maybe the final pass - a little bit better.'

There have been certain spells and certain movements from the USA that have been brilliant to watch.

Team USA captain Tim Ream is having a breather in the dressing room at present, but in the lead up to the game he spoke to Football Daily and said he believes the World Cup will inspire the next generation: "We have a chance to grow the sport even more. No matter what national team you play for, you have an opportunity to inspire so many different generations of people. Young adults who are looking at which sport to put their kids into and the older generation who have not been interested in soccer at all.

"There’s so many guys on this team from so many different backgrounds, so many different corners of the country that somebody, somewhere can relate to. Then, you just work your way down the next generation of kids who dream of representing their national team in the World Cup."

On the 1994 World Cup: "I remember bits and pieces of some of the games on TV, some of the atmosphere. I remember the US meeting Colombia. I remember how energised and how crazy the crowds were. From there, a league gets developed and created."

The USA have now scored seven goals before half-time in this World Cup, more than any other team in the tournament.

They have netted in the opening 45 minutes of all four games.

The Americans have lost only one World Cup match in which they led at halftime, and that came 76 years ago against Spain, going down 3-1.

They have won 10 and drawn two other matches in which they were ahead at the break.

The watch party here at the LA Galaxy park outside the stadium is already awash with red, white and blue. Every few minutes, chants of “USA! USA!” ripple through the crowd. There’s music, families draped in stars and stripes, and thousands of supporters soaking up what has become one of the biggest sporting moments the country has hosted in decades.

There’s genuine belief around this team now. The excitement that followed the opening win hasn’t faded - if anything, it’s grown as the tournament has gone on.

Half way there... Livin on a Prayer.

The USA have been the only side trying to win this tie, but have been frustrated by the stubborn defence of Bosnia.

There's been some lovely swagger to some of their approach play but they couldn't find a way to break the deadlock until a double deflection on Malik Tillman's throughball fell to Folarin Balogun to slot through the keeper's legs for his third goal of the tournament just before the break.

    This is brilliant play.

Mauricio Pochettino is applauding it. There have been some lovely moves from the USA. The defender just does enough, just comes across and puts him off.

A feisty end to the half and we have a melee after a meaty challenge on Kerim Alajbegovic who then gets a bump in the face from the knee of Tyler Adams as he hits the deck.

The Bosnian is fuming that there's no punishment but it looks accidental.
