The perfect response to last week's disappointment away at Bayern Munich, as Stuttgart put four past Cologne to get their first points on the board in the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.
Four different goalscorers reflecting a brilliant team effort by the home side.
Meanwhile, a disappointing defeat for Cologne but signs of encouragement in the performances of second half substitutes Reigan Heskey and Mikey Moore.

Oh my goodness, what a hit that is!
After missing an absolute sitter in the first half, Josha Vagnoman makes up for it and then some.
The Stuttgart defender sees the ball fall to him on the edge of the D before unleashing a brilliant volley past Marvin Schwabe in the Cologne goal.
A fantastic effort to wrap up a fantastic performance for the home side.

It's a fierce strike from distance by Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch.
He sets his sights on the bottom left-hand corner but his effort stings the hands of Marvin Schwabe before going behind for a corner.

Despite being off balance, the Spurs loanee maintains his composure to slide a pass across goal for Marius Bulter to bundle the ball over the line to pull one back for the visitors.

The result is beyond all doubt now.
It's a brilliant goal from substitute Ermedin Demirovic. He receives the ball on the right, beating Luka Lochoshvili with pure strength and determination before bearing down on goal and finishing past Marvin Schwabe from a tight angle.
That should be the three points wrapped up for Stuttgart.

Cologne's persistance with playing out from the back almost costs them dearly.
Marvin Schwabe doesn't get enough on the pass into his back line and Stuttgart are quick to pounce, but Dzenan Pejcinovic sees his shot saved by the Cologne goalkeeper.
A golden opportunity wasted for the home side and one which would have all but confirmed defeat for Cologne.

Absolute sucker punch!
It's been all Cologne in this second half but Stuttgart have well and truly punished the visitors for being so wasteful with their chances.
Maximilian Mittelstadt manages to reach the byline before playing the ball back to Grischa Promel, who storms into the 18-yard box to place the ball into the roof of an unguarded net.
A devastating blow for Cologne but a goal celebrated wildly by the Stuttgart faithful.

This time, Mikey Moore produces a lovely first touch on the half turn to evade a Stuttgart defender before testing Fabian Bredlow.
The Tottenham loanee looks to curl one into the far corner, but his shot is stopped by the feet of the Stuttgart goalkeeper.
History repeats itself minutes later as Cologne catch Stuttgart on the counter, but Moore's shot across goal is stopped again by Bredlow.

It's almost an immediate impact from the substitute Ellyes Skhiri, but his effort from close range is denied by the lightning quick reactions of Fabian Bredlow to stop the Tunisian's header from finding the back of the net.
Cologne have started this second half with a point to prove.

They've been the more dangerous of the two teams, hitting the woodwork on multiple occasions in the early goings of the game.
Cologne began to get their footing in the match as the half progressed but just as their confidence grew, the visitors were undone by a brilliant solo effort by Bilal El Khannouss.
Stuttgart have responded well to the disappointment of matchday one - can they keep the momentum going in the second half?

It's a moment of individual brilliance from Bilal El Khannouss that gives Stuttgart the lead.
The Moroccan dribbles past two Cologne defenders, squeezing in a nutmeg to get past the second before seeing his shot deflected past goalkeeper Marvin Schwabe and into the back of the net.
A bit of luck with the finish but when the build-up is as briliiant as that, you'd have to say it's deserved.

Cologne are starting to find their way into the game, threatening from set-pieces as the ball finds it's way to Gideon Mensah after a corner. His shot leaves a lot to be desired however, as the ball flies over the Stuttgart goal.
Cologne also had what looked to be a promising break snuffed out by a crucial interception from Finn Jeltsch in the Stuttgart defence.
The home side are still very much in control of the game, but Cologne are starting to grow in confidence.
