So there you have it.

Andoni Iraola breezed through his news conference before Friday's Premier League match at Ipswich Town with the minimum of fuss.

He is happy the transfer window has closed, happy to have Bradley Barcola in the door and eager to get the France forward into his matchday squad, although suggested he might not have the necessary match fitness to start.

Here are Iraola's top lines:

• Bradley Barcola has come with the "right mentality" and should definitely be available to feature in the Ipswich game - whether he will start is another matter
• On Cody Gakpo, he says his relationship with the Netherlands winger has been "honest since the beginning" and they were "constantly talking" during the transfer window
• Iraola says he is happy with the four wingers he has available to him - Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo
• The Liverpool boss is "much more comfortable now the market is closed" and eager to work with the group he has to earn their first win
• To get that first win of the season he wants his players to start stronger and control games, rather than have to come from behind
• Joe Gomez is closest of Liverpool's injured players to returning, he will begin training next week, followed by Geovanni Leoni. Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike are still a way off.

Andoni Iraola is yet to win a game as Liverpool boss but there certainly wasn't any sense of panic when he spoke to the media for the first time since the transfer window ended.

Iraola feels "much more comfortable" now that he knows what players he has to work with and insisted that the responsibility is on him to "develop" what Liverpool have and that it is about "coaching and taking decisions".

Liverpool admired Iraola's trait of developing players when appointing him and now is the time to see what he can do.

Admittedly, Liverpool have lacked quality in depth in their first two games, albeit with a number of players out injured, and Iraola's insistence that he is "very happy" with all the signings they made suggests that there is a general feeling of satisfaction internally with the summer activity - that saw the arrival of Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz, Ronald Araujo and Bradley Barcola.

"I want to win. I need to win," said Iraola, after his side drew 2-2 against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

It's early doors but anything less than three points at Ipswich will make things less comfortable for the Liverpool boss.

A final word from Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on covering positions where the squad is not as strong: "The challenge in the squad now is, for example, we don't have Conor Bradley or Joe Gomez.

"If you take two players from every position, we will look thin always. Now we are in this situation. That's why I value Dom [Szoboszlai] at right-back as he can play there.

"This versatility in the players helps us to go through the moments in the season when we have injuries. In midfield, we have good numbers. Now it's a matter of getting the right calls from my side.

"I'm finding the best combinations and we are going through a period these next two weeks where we will play a lot of games and we'll have a chance to see the options we have and the combinations we have. It's a matter of coaching."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on Rio Ngumoha: "We know Rio's preferred position is on the left. But also, he needs to develop on the right so he can have more options to play.

"He is so young [but] because he wasn't incredible in the first game on the right we can't say he will never play on the right anymore? It is maybe going to take more time.

"Victor [Munoz] has played more games on the left in his career but has maybe been even better on the right. Sometimes, it's a matter of the connections they make with the players around them. We trust the wingers we have - we are going to need them all.

"Rio [just turned 18] and looks already like a player in the Premier League - this is because he's very good."

On a potential new contract: "No news from my side."

Andoni Iraola on Liverpool team news and players returning to fitness: "Closest one is Joe [Gomez, to return]. Joe will probably start training with us next week. He has had a normal recovery, I hope we can have him before the break.

"I think the next one is Giovanni Leoni, he could start training during the break with the group. Conor [Bradley] and especially Hugo [Ekitike] will return later."

"When you are losing, and then you score, it does not look good. If you are losing, it does not look good. If you are winning 1-0, it is nice. So the focus is starting stronger in games, don't wait until the first goal to be more aggressive.

"We need to start stronger, because after everything it gets easier when you are controlling the result."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on Dominik Szoboszlai moving to right-back: "Since I started, I have spoken to a lot of players about positions they prefer to play. I haven't found any situation where a player has said he doesn't want to play here or there. Everyone has shown the right attitudes.

"I more or less know their preferred positions. We have discussions but everyone is ready to help.

"If we have to play Szoboszlai as a right winger, as a right-back, left-back, I think he is ready to do it. He wants to help the team first.

"It is good to have players who can cover different positions. We have some injuries now and we need the versatility of players like Dom. It is valuable as even in the game they have to change positions."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on facing Ipswich: "I think Ipswich is a team that has started well, in terms of winning the first game at home. The other game [Sunday's 5-2 defeat at Manchester United], in the first half they were probably the better team. Until United scored the 2-1 and the game went more open and they had to risk a bit more, I thought they played well.

"So, we will have to be very ready and give our best to win our first game."

All summer, Andoni Iraola has said that he will be "comfortable" come the start of September when the transfer window is over and he has certainty over his squad. That moment has now arrived.

Senior figures at Liverpool said from the outset that this was never going to be a transfer window like last summer when the club spent a then record £415m under Arne Slot.

Last summer, Liverpool also made £188m from selling players and ended the window with a net spend of £227m.

If you include Jeremy Jacquet (a deal confirmed in January), then Liverpool's net spend is not hugely dissimilar this summer at just under £200m.
