Harry Kane scored his 150th goal for Bayern Munich to help the German champions narrowly defeat Bundesliga new boys Elversberg.

Bayern took the lead in the 26th minute when Ismael Saibari's low cross deflected off Kane into the path of Lennart Karl who tapped in at the back post.

But Elversberg, who have already beaten Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia ⁠Moenchengladbach in their first Bundesliga season, equalised through Maurice Krattenmacher's superb curling effort which found the top corner from the edge of the box in the 61st minute.

And Kane netted the winner, receiving the ball in the box and blasting a shot which beat Elversberg keeper Nicolas Kristof at his near post.

It was Kane's 99th Bundesliga goal in his 97th appearance, and his first of the 2026-27 league campaign.

It was also the Englishman's 150th goal in 153 matches in all competitions for Bayern since joining from Tottenham in August 2023.

The 33-year-old is one of the favourites to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded in London in October.

Since the start of the 2023-24 campaign he has scored 10 more goals than any other player across Europe's 'big-five' leagues and has averaged a strike every 79 minutes.

He reached 50 Bundesliga goals in 43 appearances, an all-time record, and is on track to be the quickest to 100 too, with the current record held by Dieter Muller who reached a century of goals in his 129th game.

Bayern are fourth in the Bundesliga after two wins and one draw, while Elversberg, whose town has a population of just 13,000, are sixth.
