Viking face Bayern, Atletico, Napoli and Aston Villa, but Norwegian football is full of clever, competitive coaches, players and teams. They could make it to the knock-outs.

A lovely sunny evening in Stuttgart, not something the Viking players will be that used to.

Based in the Norwegian city of Stavanger, the Champions League debutants are used to summer highs of 18C.

Their fans have all got their t-shirts on and are soaking up the atmosphere.

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta: "I’m really excited.

"We know what this competition means to all of us, the experience of last year as well, so we need to start with the first game in a really, really tough place, but really excited to start the campaign.

"Start well tomorrow; that's the only thing we can do. Start by putting in a big performance tomorrow to increase the probability of winning the game."

Arsenal might be the overall favourites for the tournament but it's a tough old start they've got away to Serie A side Napoli.

Will they impress with a statement performance later on?

I thought Arsenal were fluid last season, but I feel like they are actually more fluid this season.

Arsenal look the most ready I've seen them in a long time at this stage of a season.

Usually, at this stage, teams are still getting up to speed and there are a few flaws here and there, but they look top.

It comes down to what Mikel Arteta has done over the summer, for me. I don't mean in terms of recruitment, but more so what he has done on the grass. It is all about his ability to make his players better.

Arsenal look so far ahead of everybody else at the minute it is unbelievable.

According to Opta, last year's runners-up Arsenal are the overall favourites to win the Champions League (20.4%) although Bayern Munich, who lost to PSG in the semi-finals last year, are only marginally behind (20%).

PSG's chances of winning a third European title in a row are 7.3%, fourth overall, while 2023 winners Manchester City are third, having been given a 12.7% chance.

All five of the Premier League teams are ranked inside the top 10 for overall win probability and all have been given a more than 50% chance of reaching the last-16.

What a start to the season Barcelona forward Raphinha has had.

Six goals and one assist in four games is some going and he could transfer those exploits to the Champions League tonight.

It's quite a tash that, too. Fair play.

So, Rodri starts for just the second time since joining Barcelona from Manchester City this summer.

The Spaniard underwent back surgery just before the season started but missed just one game for Barca before appearing as a substitute in two games and starting the third, against Valencia on Sunday.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on in Europe this year having been the man to help Manchester City win their first Champions League title three years ago.

Rodri has ended on the losing side in just eight of his 62 career games in the Champions League (W41 D13). His loss percentage (12.9%) is the lowest of any midfielder to make 50+ appearances in the competition.

Before we get into some proper build up, don't forget that the BBC will again show Champions League highlights this season.

You can watch video highlights of every Champions League game from 22:00 BST this evening on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

There will also be a Champions League Match of the Day on BBC One tonight from 22:40 to 00:00. This week there will also be be a highlights show on Thursday on BBC Two at 22:30 with highlights from Thursday's matches dropping at 22:00.

Manchester City got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start last night with victory over Porto.

Two more English sides are in action later but first up Barcelona take on Feyenoord and Stuttgart host Champions League newcomers Viking.

Barca are one of the favourites to go all the way this year. Will they get off to a winning start?

And what about Norwegian side Viking? Can they cause an upset?
