That's it from the Racecourse, where frustration reigns for Wrexham as Birmingham City make the short journey home on the back of a rousing win.

The Red Dragons can have few complaints, having been undone at two set-pieces and been lucky to escape on a couple more occasions.

Phil Parkinson acknowledged as much, with the Wrexham boss looking a frustrated man after a third league game without a win this season.

Chris Davies, by contrast, had a look of steely determination as he celebrated a much-needed Blues victory.

It's on to Southampton at home on Tuesday for Birmingham, while Wrexham take their search for a win to Millwall on Wednesday.

We'll be there, as ever, to take you through what happens.

"It was a really good night for us, I thought we started the game really well just like you'd want to away from home.

"We got on the front foot, had some moments and we could have been maybe a couple of goals up at half-time, so, I was really pleased with that.

"I think we looked like a team, that's the main thing, we looked like a real team and we had to be one, to come to a place like Wrexham who are a really solid and a really good side, especially at home. So, for us it's a big, big win."

The outlook suddenly looks brighter for Birmingham, who leap to fourth in the early-season table having banked a first league win of the campaign.

No wonder Chris Davies was celebrating at the end, given the talk of pressure in the build-up to this game.

Pretty damning stuff from Phil Parkinson, who also suggests Wrexham may still have work to do in what remains of the transfer window.

Certainly, this has not been the start they wanted.

Three of their next five fixtures are away, against Millwall, Swansea and West Ham, while the home games are against Burnley and Southampton.

Parkinson's team may have to dig deep.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson speaking to Sky Sports: "The two goals we conceded were two of the softest goals we've conceded in all my time here, and that includes being in the National League.

"I thought we lacked conviction in our play tonight in the first half, second half I thought we were better, that's why I'm so annoyed with the second goal, because we'd got back in the game.

"But we looked like a team where everyone was looking around the pitch for someone else to go and make it happen, rather than take responsibility as individuals.

"I've got to think long and hard about it, we conceded in the last minute against Cardiff, there's been a lot of talk around the transfer window, a lot of uncertainty.

"I said to the lads at half-time I want us to play with more belief and conviction."

Wrexham started last season slowly, and it's a similar story this time around.

Phil Parkinson's team are actually a point better off than they were after three league games last year, but they then won two of the next three in 2025-26.

Wrexham could do with something similar now, though there are plenty of tricky fixtures ahead.

That was a very poor first half from Wrexham's standards, there was a slight improvement in the second half but it wasn't to be on the night.

Phil Neumann stood out for me and James Beadle made some good saves, but that doesn't take away from the fact that we do need reinforcements.

Birmingham City

Birmingham forward Jay Stansfield told Sky Sports:

"Last season we didn't score enough from set-pieces but we are looking a threat now.

"I just lost concentration [with the first-half chance] and I should be putting them away, but I did my job for the team and I'll put that away next time I promise.

"Over the last few years it's been a rivalry [with Wrexham], they call it the Hollywood rivalry.

"We have come up on top tonight and when they come to our place we'll make sure we give them a good game again, but mainly for us it was just a reaction to Tuesday.

"This will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."

That was a performance that warranted a win for Birmingham.

At one point in the second half Wrexham looked like they were controlling the game, but the game management from Chris Davies' team was very good.

Birmingham deserved that victory based on the chances they created.

In truth, it should have been more comfortable.

It's a disappointing night for Wrexham, who are still without a win this season.

What a huge win for Birmingham and Chris Davies.

The Blues boss tries to keep it cool at full-time but that must feel very big for him.
