What a night.

Youri's volley. Bend it like Buendia. Aston-bul. Emery king of Europe.

There are two more European finals before the season is out, plus the final day of the Premier League on Sunday and the Play-Off finals this weekend. We can't wait!

"We play the first 30 minutes more or less trying to get emotionally how it was going the match. Then we started to push more. After we scored the players were feeling better than at the start of the match because we needed to test a little bit how we were. And then the quality. Without the skills, the quality, it is impossible to win."

"[He is] very competitive. Even when I substituted him at 80 minutes, he was angry. Two days ago he didn't train. I spoke with him this morning, 'Are you ok? Are you 100%? Yes? Then play'. When I changed him he was angry. It's his competitive way. I understand it."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports about his side's opening goal:

"[Set piece coach] Austin [MacPhee] is a really fantastic creator. We must be so so demanding in our details. Austin is fantastic. Everything we are working on makes sense. The hours in each training session each day to try to get as best as possible our challenges in set pieces. When we are scoring like that of course we are proud of what we're doing.

"We are practising it. Austin I believe a lot in set pieces. You can win a lot of matches through it. Congratulations to Austin for how he does his job. We are sharing everything, our experiences. But he is the creator for this action."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports, on achieving the dreams he shared when he arrived at Villa:

"I am myself ambitious and of course I need support. The owners, everyone that works in the club. The players, and they are following us. We are doing it together. But we must try to set this ambitious, being clear and realistic. Every step forward we are doing makes sense."

On what is next for him and the club:

"Next year we will play in Champions League and this is the challenge. The Premier League is the most difficult league in the world. To be fighting top seven, top five, top four is something very difficult. Hopefully we can be close with teams like City and Arsenal. Congratulations to them for this title.

"It's a huge challenge we have in Premier League. Why? In the beginning we are not contenders for top seven. There are top seven teams. Top six, and Newcastle is the seventh. And we are trying to get there. To try to be consistent there. We are achieving it. But of course to keep it is our challenge. And then, being there we are in Europe.

"And getting this trophy we are adding experiences for us. And those experiences for the players are important. Because as well we can play next year trying as well to be in contention for trophies. Last year with the FA Cup and Champions League semis and quarter finals, we lost - experience for us. But we lost this match because we deserved it, because we didn't deserve more against Crystal Palace. Today, I was ready to win, I was ready to lose. Experience for us. Of course, winning is better."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports, asked whether the project has more future:

"We are getting stronger. Development in everything. The club is working to extend the stadium by 10,000 people more. We are building and changing a little bit the training centre.

"We are trying to be demanding, playing in Europe, next year we are going to be in Champions League. It makes sense how we are getting this development with players, extending the contracts. But always it's important that we must be so so demanding in our process, in our project. Because the project can only make sense if we are winning."

On becoming a 'destination' instead of a stepping stone:

"Of course [that is part of the plan]. We are improving. We are playing finals. We are winning trophies. I think the brand as well is increasing. This we need as well. To try to improve in all the things. The brand is very important. And how football watches us. As a team, ambitious and improving. This is our next step."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports, asked what this group of players has given him: "We are always here talking about our experiences. We try to use our experiences here. We play semi-final, we play quarter-final in Europe, Conference and Champions League.

"This final is confirmation of how we are progressing. It is very important for them.

"Of course it is important for the supporters, they are travelling with us all the season, doing a huge effort to be with us and transmitting us the energy. We must try as well to be proud of everything we are doing with our supporters.

"And of course as well how this club won the title in 1982. And again competing for a title in Europe is something which makes sense of everything we are doing."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports after winning his fifth Europa League trophy: "Good evening. Fantastic. Europe it gave us a lot. For myself as well - a lot. I'm always very grateful for Europe. For every competition but especially the Europa League.

"As well the clubs I work at because they show the way, as well the support I had with Valencia, with Sevilla, with Villareal and here at Villa. The owners, the players. It's very important how everybody, we got strongly this competition and we tried to get our best. We played it in a very serious way this year - so so focussed.

"And of course the players they show their wishes. I was telling them in there, we need wishes, we need seriousness in this competition. To show on the field that you are the protagonist - and they did it!"

It really couldn't have been a more perfect evening could it? Three of their most impressive performers this season in Tielemans, Buendia and Rogers scoring the goals and then a man who has become 'Mr Aston Villa' McGinn lifting the trophy at the end of it.

Aston Villa captain John McGinn speaking to TNT Sports about how he felt before the game: "I wasn't nervous. I was for the semi final. I had full confidence in our ability. We've built so much and this group of players deserve it. The supporters do. In the Championship every away end was full to the rafters. If we were relegated it'd be the same.

"Hopefully Prince William is paying for the free bar. He's a classy game he was in dressing room before the game. He's a massive villa fan, he was never going to miss it. He's just a normal guy, it's great to have his support. Hopefully he can have a couple of drinks with us and maybe get his credit card out.

On a John McGinn statue at Villa Park: "I've got a few years left. With this guy in charge, anything's possible. It's important to keep building. It will be very very difficult to knock the big cheeser [smile] off my face tonight."

He's so reliable, so consistent. He pops up with big goals. He's so humble.

"I can't believe it to be honest. What we've been through as a club, this club is close to being in a right bad way seven years ago. V Sports bought the club over. Their one remit was to get it back to the Premier League and back to the levels of before.

"Tonight was everything we built coming together. The pride I felt with 10 minutes to go knowing we were about to be champions - I cant describe it."

On how the game went:

"We started well. I'm biased, but we have a great set piece coach in Austin MacPhee. We tried to deceive a bit with the set piece. We did it against liverpool at the weekend. Youri [Tielemans] has great quality to find the goal. It'd have been over the bar if it were me!"

On what it means to win the trophy:

"It means a lot. As a kid growing up I remember Celtic in 2003. It wasn't a great night for them but it was special. I was lucky enough to go the final at Hampden in 2007. To be here, in 2026, as captain of Aston Villa is incredible. It's the proudest night of my career.

"I'll try to enjoy it. I like to party but I'll take it easy to try and soak it all in."

"Being 31, in my first European final, I've seen my mates [Jack] Grealish and [Andy] Robertson win. It's my turn. It's so special, I'll cherish every minute."

Unai Emery is a five-time Europa League winner. He’s the second manager to win a major European competition five times after five-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti.

Emery is a winner. He is a born winner, especially in this competition when he has shown it time and time and time again. Put his name up there alongside Ancelotti and Mourinho.

He's put this club back into Europe, back into the Champions League. If you had said when we were in 16th position [in the Premier League] that he would come in and win the Europa league, not one player would think that would be true. He's just got a way.
